Just announced. Thailand stays on red list.

Eight countries taken off England’s red list including Turkey and the Maldives but sadly not Thailand.

Yes, I saw that on the Government page which is here : https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england

Why was there any expectation that Thailaind was 'tipped' to be removed from the red list? Things are just heating up over here.

I do not think there was any real optimism from what I had read. Not sure why the “i” thought differently.

It’s all political anyway

If Thailand was an Islamic country it would be off the red list

Perhaps Thailand should alter the way it treats vaccinated people arriving from the UK?

Right now the restrictions in the UK are about the same, except for the COVID prisons in Thailand - we don't have those in the UK.

Thailand is being treated in the same way that it treats arrivals from other countries, I'm not sure of the exact reasons but if I were in charge I would do this just due to the disparity in treatment so yes, it would be 100% political and tit for tat.

There is one difference, the UK doesn't need any tourists from Thailand at all.

Uk is doing 1,000,000 TESTS A DAY.

Thailand is doing 30,000 TESTS A DAY.

The UK has consistently averaged around 700,000 tests per day for the last 6 months.  Admittedly some of these may be pro-active screening tests for healthcare workers et al, so let's say 500,000 is general testing.  This is still 10x the amount that Thailand is currently doing and you don't have to be Heinz Wolff to understand the simple laws of statistics in that if Thailand was to increase its testing 10x, it would most probably find near 8-10x the amount of positive cases?

The UK, US, EU or any other similar countries aren't stupid and cannot be fooled on this one due to their experience of the extensive testing that they have carried out.  They are simply not going to risk their economy, the health of their people and possible civil unrest due to further lockdowns, on the word of any official from any country that they feel is not doing enough to control and monitor the pandemic.  The sooner Thailand learns this and acts accordingly, the sooner they will be off that red list.

I always feel people bringing up reciprocity wrt how the UK treats Thais trying to visit the UK, in relation to the other way around, have little right to see Thailand in a bad light.

So?

A major reason is the efficacy of the Chinese vaccines against Delta and, as far as I can see, no formal study into mixing other vaccines with them. At least the UK did formal trials using Pfizer, Moderna and AZ. I have not seen any reports of mixing vaccine trials in Thailand so I might be wrong.

I agree no formal trials involving mixing Chinese vaccines with others.

Another reason for non-acceptance of Thai administered vaccinations is that Thailand is full of scams and forgeries, so why would any immigration/health official in the UK/EU/US believe any "Thai certificate of vaccination" ??

I'm assuming this is a joke. At least I hope it is.

Afghanistan is at the top of that list and I'm fairly sure they're a bit Islamic and with just a quick scan there's Oman and Egypt as well.  That's without a full check.

This government is delusional and full of hot air, and living in their own castles in the sky ????
