Thailand reports 14,109 new COVID-19 cases, 13,280 recoveries and 122 deaths

Thailand on Saturday (September 18 ) reported 14,109 new COVID-19 cases, 13,280 recoveries and 122 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

 

◼︎ 13,280 recoveries

◼︎ 13,255 new infections 

◼︎ 854 prison / prison infections

 

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,434,038 

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,290,101

 

Saturday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,462,901 with 15,246 deaths.

 

The news comes as back in late April, Thailand announced plans to purchase Russia’s Sputnik V, the world’s first registered COVID-19 vaccine.

 

Given the Thai government’s desperation to diversify vaccine supplies and Sputnik V’s portrayal as a decent alternative to the mRNA vaccines that are difficult to manufacture and store, the announcement was much hyped. But, four months later, Sputnik V has mysteriously vanished from the public discourse.

 

Sputnik V’s endorsement process has been moving at a very slow pace. Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has yet to approve the Russian vaccine for import and domestic distribution.

 

At a broader level, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has allowed international visitors vaccinated with Sputnik V to enter Phuket and other selected destinations under the Phuket Sandbox 7+7 Extension scheme to boost tourism. Even so, this rather modest move took weeks to finalize.

Chonburi Public Health Office is reporting 848 new cases today and 6 deaths. Most new cases are in Chonburi City (222), Si Racha (193), Bang Lamung/Pattaya (128), and Sattahip (86). There are 13,593 patients in care #COVID19 #โควิดวันนี้ #Thailand

Phuket health authorities are reporting 235 new local cases , zero cases from the Sandbox and no deaths. There are 3,663 patients in care . The #PhuketSandbox has had 95 cases since 1st July #COVID19 #โควิด19 #โควิดวันนี้ #Thailand

If country is in lockdown for months, if it worked, why aren't the numbers coming down

 

It's no different in hotspots of Sydney and Melbourne, heavy lockdown for months but cases stay consistent. Haven't they proved elsewhere that lockdowns don't work?

maybe because instead of going to restaurants & public activities, which are constantly cleaned and dis-infected, wiped down.. people start hanging out with their friends & family at houses, etc. where everyones too lazy to keep the place clean.. it probably makes things worse..

Lockdowns provide time to vaccinate. Without lockdowns in places you mention the number of cases would be far worse and threaten the health system.

Saigon  currently has hard lockdown and numbers still rising. See what happens if they end lockdown.

The purpose of a lockdown is to keep the numbers of new infections down so that hospitals are not overwhelmed.

 

Would you prefer the virus be allowed to spread unfettered?

Problem is people keep going out and spreading it. The vector for this virus are humans. South Australia and Western Australia who do fast hard lockdowns for now have the virus under control.

And you also have countries fully opening up and cases have generally been the same as when in lockdown crippling the economy and livlihoods

yea except you don't know that for certain since everyone is locking down.. in this country they eased the lockdowns to about 0 and the cases are slowly declineing, it doesn't seem to have any effect whats-so-ever  most people are getting the covid from someone they had close contact with, and they continue to have close contact with the same family and friends when there is a lockdown.. i'm in a starbuks, the totally dis-infect and wipe down the place all day, your not gonna get covid oin a place like this from people you are 5 meters from

Thailand has two sets of color-coded zoning schemes that involved the spread of COVID-19 in the country. o One set is to demonstrate areas and infection rate per population. o The other set is to indicate level of pandemic control requirements and precaution guidelines. (1/3)

 

For the COVID-19 Infection Rate, the government has established a five-color scheme—red, orange, yellow, green, and white. o “RED” are areas with infection over 100 people, “ORANGE” 51-100 cases,“YELLOW” 11-50 cases, “GREEN” between 1-10 cases. “WHITE”=no infection. (2/3)

Doubt Thailand will proceed with this until it’s had approval from WHO

Good news, no further deaths yet, latest bed situation:

 

Meanwhile, the total number of hospital beds actually occupied by COVID patients in Phuket rose to 1,924 (88.87%) ‒ an increase of 40 from the 1,885 reported yesterday.

The number of hospital beds reported as remaining available fell by 36, from 277 to 241, representing 11.13% of the total number of beds designated for COVID patients.

The report marked that of the COVID patients in care 35 were designated as ‘Red patients’ (zero change from yesterday), 341 were designated ‘Yellow’ patients (zero change), and 389 were designated as ‘Green’ patients (-12).

Good gyms have disinfectant and cleaning protocol by staffs and members are told to do the same when they use the equipments. My advise to you is to find another gym. Your gym is a ticking time bomb.

There is this new thing called “vaccination “. You should read up on it.

 

But prior to the introduction of vaccines, nations that opened up got hammered with new cases. Same with US states. Florida opened up earlier this year, with tragic results.

Full lockdowns work, even with the Delta variant.

So everyone happy.... It seems they have it under control but in fact the numbers are up again today 17.286 rapid tests included
