BANGKOK, Oct 12 (TNA) – The House’s special committee scrutinizing anti-torture and forced disappearance bills intends to return them to the House next month.

Pheu Thai MP for Nakhon Phanom Chavalit Wichayasut, as the chair of the committee, said the panel invited experts at the national level to share their opinions on the four anti-torture and forced disappearance bills and intended to finish its scrutiny of the bills within this month and send them back to the House next month.

“The society, media organizations and human rights groups pin their hope on the bills and want Thailand to have internationally recognized laws,” he said.

Could anyone actually be against this?
Just vote for it... end of.

And who would enforce this law - the RTP or the RTM?

Under Prayut, Thailand's Human Rights Commission has been decertified by the UNHRC and gutted from any investigative and independent reporting authority.

The DSI now under Prayut's supervision?

Any such anti-torure bills now will be just as effective as fingernail polish.

Yes. Thailand has lots of civilized laws but many are only paid lip service.

I'm sure legislation of this nature hits close to the quick - which of course might suggest that there is deeper involvement in this despicable activity than not.
