PHUKET: Long queues returned to Phuket Check Point on the only road leading onto the island yesterday (Oct 16), as the requirements for domestic travellers to enter Phuket were eased to allow all people who have been vaccinated for COVID-19 without having to prove they have tested negative for the virus in the past seven days.

Officers at the checkpoint estimate that the number of vehicles coming onto the island will soon average 10,000 a day, up from the average 1,000 vehicles per day under the previous control measures, said one report by Phuket officials.

Under the new measures, the checkpoint is now open again 24 hours a day.

When you read the above you soon realise something very obvious - the solution to get foreign tourism going is staring them in the face and I bet they still can't see it

Reminds me of summer holidays in Europe in the 80'ies. Queing for hours to show a bloody ID to someone who hardly could read.

so Thailand is sticking with the, "lets milk the foreign atm scam" still,   foreigners have to test within 72 hrs of departure and again at arrival in Thailad but domestic tourists dont, thats not a health issue thats a pure money making issue

You do realize there are quite a few foreigners amongst the domestic tourists?

Does anyone who lives in Phuket know if this still is a daily occurrence after domestic travel restrictions was eased or was it only the first few days there were long queues?
