Officials were scurrying for answers after someone opened floodgates at Klong Bang Na that almost caused flooding in Pathum Thani.

Officials managed to reverse the process and the police were contacted to catch the culprit.

The police had received a report that someone had tampered with the settings in Sam Khok district.

They were met by a large crowd of disgruntled locals.

Levels in the Chao Phraya River were higher than in the klong meaning that the gates had to be kept shut to prevent flooding, reported Daily News.

When they were opened levels in the klong rose sharply creating panic.

It took two hours to manually close the gates again averting disaster for many in the area.

Now they want answers as to who was responsible.

Infamy, infamy...they've all.got it in for me...

Sorry, had to do it.

Leaving gates unguarded or unsecured is asking for trouble. There are some gates from canal to canal near me. No locks, no guards. Someone opens them 'to water their rice fields' and floods a whole village, as they forgot to close them. Drunk, as usual.

Maybe they should investigate Who Ordered the gates to be opened.

Remember during the great floods of Yingluck  that  the Bangkok officials couldn't find the keys to open the gates  which resulted in flooding   perhaps they then removed all the locks so it couldn't happen again ????

They closed the gates and formed a bucket line to transfer the released water back to the reservoir?
