No longer able to use earphones on laptop

Featured Replies

I have a laptop Asus Zenbook UX 305 which runs Win 10. I use a free* driver update program (Driver Booster) and recently it installed a new audio driver (Realtek something) that was very annoying (got a dashboard that wanted all kinds of input) so I deleted it. Now I'm not able to use earphones connected to the supplied jack, only via Bluetooth. Looking at the Device Manager it also looks like there is something missing for earphones. If anyone has any ideas about what I should do then please let me know.

* The Driver Booster program is very annoying and I can't get past the "Upgrade to Pro version" spiel so looking for alternatives.

first thing is to remove that program...then go to the official ASUS website and download the drivers for your specific laptop and install them manually.

Isn't there a  way to just roll back to previous driver in the device manager?

Yes..., in driver booster screen click on the " tools " image  and then in the following screen you see ALL options Driver booster has , depending if used the spare kopie making option   when updating/ installing  the  new driver

My sons computer(itsonas) doing the same with realtek(windows10).

Started off losing volume with google watching youtube so switched to firefox but that has now stopped as well.

What to do,delete realtek and reinstall?

Earphones come under the same settings as speakers, as they plug into the same jack.  Go to your sound settings, select Speakers as your audio output, and increase the volume if it's set too low.

Your earphones are absolutely fine.

Maybe you are deaf.

Can you hear me, hello....
