snoop1130 Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 AIZAR RALDES / AFP AstraZeneca (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has, through an open letter, announced that its COVID-19 vaccine production has increased by more than a 20%, to support vaccinations in Thailand and across the region. Today (Tuesday), James Teak, President of AstraZeneca (Thailand) Co, published an open letter concerning the progress of their COVID-19 vaccine. The letter states that AstraZeneca has been working with Siam Bioscience to increase vaccine production in Thailand. Originally, AstraZeneca was able to produce 580,000 doses per production cycle, but that has increased to 700,000 doses on average, demonstrating the potential of COVID-19 vaccine production in Thailand to exceed expectations. internationalism Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) the last year they estimated production 180-200mln per year. somehow they missed to put estimated total figures in this report, but if they are importing from elsewhere it indicates hiccups and shortage Edited November 2, 2021 by internationalism 1

First stage takes 6 weeks to producing the bulk vaccine. Second stage is fill and finish, which is often done somewhere else. It's not clear if they are just talking about the first part or both. https://cosmosmagazine.com/health/explainer-how-to-make-a-vaccine/ Edited November 2, 2021 by shdmn
lujanit Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 How do I know where the AZ doses I received were manufactured? The piece of paper I received after the second shot doesn't say. It just gives batch numbers.

In July I wrote an open letter to update you on how we were leaving no stone unturned to accelerate the supply of our Covid-19 vaccine, including efforts to optimise the production process. Since then, in partnership with our local manufacturing partner, Siam Bioscience, we have been successful in increasing each manufactured batch size by 20%, from 580,000 doses per batch to on average 700,000. This means more doses than anticipated are being produced in Thailand to help vaccinate people across the country and region. In October we supplied 10.5 million doses to Thailand, taking the total supplied to date to 35.1 million, as part of our overall commitment to deliver 61 million, ahead of a newer agreement to supply an additional 60 million in 2022. In addition to increased local manufacturing capacity, we will import doses from other supply chains. In response to the Delta outbreak, another commitment I made in July was to search the 20+ supply chains in our worldwide manufacturing network, to find additional vaccines for Southeast Asia, including Thailand. We will soon have several of our global supply chains providing doses to Southeast Asia over the remainder of this year, ensuring accelerated supply for each country, including Thailand. Siam Bioscience is forecast to continue exceeding original manufacturing estimates, alongside the import of additional doses. Spurred on by the heart and strength that has been shown across Thailand during this extremely difficult time, our efforts to provide more vaccine doses faster does not stop here. Everyone at AstraZeneca will continue working to accelerate vaccine supply wherever possible to support Thailand’s pandemic recovery. We will continue to keep you informed on our relentless pursuit and progress. Yours sincerely, James Teague Managing Director, AstraZeneca Thailand 1

chilly07 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 So whilst the powers that be were turning down vaccine donation's around the world including covax because they were concentrating on producing in Thailand the production facility in Thailand could only produce 500k jabs now increased to 700. No wonder they had to foist Sinojabs on a population that doesn't want them apart from the huge fee generated and now has lost 1.5 m Moderna and is heavily reliant on Pfizer to provide boosters that make up for the Sino. What is the opposite of storm in a teacup- ripple in a hurricane? Is Thailand opening up into a hurricane?
MrJ2U Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Great! Not many people really want yesterday's vaccine. I think another reason why they purposely scuttled the Moderna donation from Poland and have screwed up private hospitals purchase.
bangon04 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 "The letter states that AstraZeneca has been working with Siam Bioscience to increase vaccine production in Thailand." What a wonderful idea...... I wonder why they didn't do that last year?
