First Time Marriage Visa Extension in Bangkok

Featured Replies

I'm planning on going to CW to do a visa extension based on marriage. It's the first time I'm doing such an extension and I want to make sure I got all the right documents.

This is what I have on my list after doing a bunch of research on this forum:

  • 2x Application form TM7 (printed on both sides)
  • 2 x Photos (4x6cm) glued on TM7

  • Passport
  • Copies of passport and all visa pages
  • Old, expired passport just in case

  • Updated Kor Ror 2 original +  copy (signed by both in the middle)
  • Copy of marriage certificate (signed by both in the middle)
  • Copy of spouse’s house registration (tabien baan)
  • Spouse's ID card + signed copy
  • TM6 departure card + copy

  • Photos (no selfies): Wedding, inside condo, outside of condo with house number visible (all signed in the middle by both)
  • Map to residence from the nearest main road or street
  • Rental contract for condo

  • Original bank book, showing 400'000 THB deposited 2 months ago
  • Wise receipt showing transfer to Deemoney
  • Receipt from Deemoney showing that they received money from abroad and transfered it to my Bangkok Bank account
  • Statement showing money going from European account to Wise (just in case)

Is there anything missing?

I have also have a few additional questions:

  • Should I just use an agent for peace of mind?
  • Is an appointment necessary? If not, at what time should I arrive?
  • Do I need a copy of the TM30?
  • Do I need to bring a witness?
  • Do I need proof of house ownership from the landlord from whom I'm renting my condo? If yes, what does that proof need to look like?

And then I have very specific question regarding some trouble with a money transfer I used Wise for:

  • I've sent 400'000 THB from my EU account to my Bangkok Bank account via Wise
  • Wise used a local intermediary (DeeMoney) and I don't have the FTT code in my bank book
  • I have obtain a letter from DeeMoney stating where the money came from (see my post in another thread
  • Question: Do I still need to get a letter from Bangkok Bank?

Any advice is much appreciated. I will also make sure to report back once I'm done with the extension.

Cheers

You do not need any documentation showing the source of the money.

Just the updated bank book and the bank letter.

Photos of wedding not needed.

Do you mean a letter from Bangkok Bank? Is it okay if that letter doesn't show that the funds came from abroad? I have the letter from DeeMoney (intermediary bank) showing that the funds came from abroad (via Vise).

I assume you have the non-o visa entry needed to apply for the extension of stay (it is not a visa extension) based upon marriage.

He is my list of general requirements.  Marriage Extension Requirements 2.pdf

Yes correct, I have a non-o visa. Sorry I should've been more specific. Thank you for the list. Since the requirements can vary from office to office, do you know if there's anything specific for Chaeng Watthana? I'm mostly worried about needing witnesses and also asking my landlord for proof of ownership.

Use Thai Wife extensions for years at CW and never need witness or go home visit. Since we have our own house can not say about landlord info. CW is extensions are not difficult and no agent needed. No need for two copies of documents.

One thing I forgot to ask: Do I have to expect a house visit from an IO at some point after the application?

I've also done some more digging and it looks like I need to ask my landlord for a copy of their house book to prove that they are the owner of the condo I'm renting. I hope my landlord will be able to provide that.

You need the letter from Bangkok Bank.

They will know what it is.

It just shows the balance of your account on that day.

Get it on the day you apply or maybe the day before.

Update your bank book on the day you apply.

Immigration are not interested where the money came from
