you would think with all the social distancing and stay at home , fixing that would get a priority., but you would be wrong . Not only 90 day not working but also reporting foreign guests also not working

I have just been sent an invitation to apply for M Pass the barrier less tolling system for Thai motorways relying on the latest ANPR technology. But there are no instructions in Thai or English on registration just a list of documents in mixed Thai and English which it looks like you have to download, fill in and print and send by snail mail. Probably written by the same elite programming team who can’t debug the 90 day reporting system or Thailand Pass and have to rely on printing and photocopying to collect information that either has been previously recorded or could easily be collected online.

No one is surprised the system is defective. Anyone whose been here more than a minute knew this was coming. Arrogance and Ineptitude are a dangerous mix and so TYPICALLY THAILAND.

The PM seems to have forgotten the problems are caused by external factors not the Thai Govt departments. He needs to talk to the heads of the authorities that issue the document that blame everyone but themselves.

The United States just opened up to most international air travel.  From what I believe all you need is a test and a vaccine certificate and a visa if you are coming from a visa required country.  Simple.  The airlines are starting to fly bigger airplanes.  I'm not saying the United States is the best country or has the best solution, but hey....you can get a beer with lunch and the bars are open!  Works for me.

I am still of the opinion that this TP again is part of the "beloved big TH charades" of confusing others (travellers, visitors), preventing things to work properly, finally leading to utter disappointment. And out of frustration, internationals then "won't go, fed up" ... which is exactly what a xenophobic government wants, keep the Great Unwashed at bay but do not explicitly prevent them from entering of the country ("it's the glitches in the system, you see...")

I thought I read somewhere that only 1/3 of applicants were dealt with in a timely manner. To my mind the other 2/3  is considerably more than "some".

With the big re-opening on Nov 1st, TAT originally predicted 1m tourists by end of the year.

 

Quickly revised down to 700,000.

 

BkkPost - last week 12,000.

 

They won't get 100k a month with this shambles in charge.

A country setting up an IT system to allow visitors to register and travel is a good idea .

If it works .

If it does not work as intended , it needs to be amended .

To prevent further ' loss of face ' for a country that emphasizes on this .

Yes, I read this, too (in the newspaper that cannot be cited here), and that's a shame. Why not make it easy and leave it up to the airlines to accept any proof of vaccination or fit-to-fly certificate resp.?

Lying and dishonesty never worked out well in the past history. This was bound to happen when the government's projects are given into the hands of their friends, cousins or brothers' inexperienced agency.
Why don’t they ask people to submit all the documents to the embassies in person and if everything is OK then the embassies can issue a QR code which can be use at the arrival - rather than asking people to upload on a site that cannot fully operate.
The scary part is, the people's information could be hacked or leaked. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

If everything had run smoothly with the Thai pass, the person in charge of it would have made all the other big wigs here look bad and lose face, thus earning a future demotion when least expected due to jealousy and fear of that persons competence.  All Thai big wigs intuitively know this.  This is the way it is and always will be.

Best way to fix it is to can it.  Then the IT staff can get to work fixing 90 day on-line reporting.  Or, better still, can 90 day reporting, too.  Problems solved.

The great leader of Thailand should have just said, that the Thailand Pass will be cancelled immediately.

  Bring your passport and visa and your funds, plus insurance and welcome to Thailand.

   I am sure that the problem with this pass and its fancy QR codes etc, cannot be fixed. Scrap it.

My sons grade 1 class was hired to do the QA on the Thai Pass system and they found so many faults they pushed the problem up the channel to the grade 2 class, where it got bogged down in red tape.  Now it is back with the grade ones.

Damn hoping the let my son start studying again soon as this QA doesn't help his grades.
