What sort of brainwashing went on to make Generals think Thailand is the Maldives or Monoco and only super rich tourists would come, oh wait they still have human rights in those places and you can drink and party if you want to enjoy your holiday...

get rid of all farang in pattaya will take 1 more year then sell it to the waiting chinese

Reminds me of what the Chinese did in Sianoukhville in Cambodia.

They (the chinese) demolished every bars, shacks, etc, rebuilt massages spas casinos and other shops catered towards chinese customers only.

Some of these new shops even bear "CHINESE CUSTOMERS ONLY" signs on their porch.

Reminds me of good old America with it's "For colored only" signs left and right.

Story repeats itself over again.

Yes let's have Songkran and spread the virus for the last 7 months and now allow Loy Krathong to spread more.

Dumb and dumber and on Remembrance day when foreigners saved Thailand and the royal family from the Japanese! Albeit after the second world war!

These government corrupt officials could not organise a <deleted> up in Nana plaza, Soi 4! Vote them out now! Cowards!

I doubt there will be much spread from Loy Krathong. A sharp reduction of testing which is already among the the lowest in the world should see to that.

I never ceased to amaze me what comes out of these guys mouths daily!  What a stupid ass remark to make " Don't be Selfish "  the guy and his cabinet, departments should all get a good look in the mirror!  For two years they have given up nothing zero!

You can see the native are getting restless and rightfully so, everyone should just OPEN and screw them and follow the science the best one can!  What are they going to do call out the Army.

It never ceases to amaze me just how many posts there are when the subject of alcohol is in the title.

I guess it shows just how many alcohol dependant foreigners there are in Thailand.

There is so much more here than beer, wine and spirits.
Use this time to rethink your lifestyle so you can hopefully live longer and healthier and enjoy life instead of the constant whinging and whining about  the alcohol ban.

Yes, the ones where owners are 'connected'

Yes, there must be some very heavy brown envelopes being passed up the pyramid. Maybe that's the reasoning behind the ban; they're making much more in backhanders to "turn a blind eye" than they ever were when the places could open and operate legally.

The government has been pushing prohibition for year.  Now they have an excuse.  They simply drive it underground and make otherwise good citizen into bad citizens.

I think if this is announced there will be few cancellations for Christmas/New bankrupting not only bars but hotels and supply chains.

.....and the proverbial domino effect in place. All this comes about, as they they continue to stumble over their contradicting policies and restrictions - yet desire business and tourists to be ramping.

It really does appear that they haven't a clue.

Meanwhile we have to endure baboon like troupes of Bangkokkers squatting all over Pattaya and Jomtien beaches, leaving behind a mountain of <deleted> in the wee hours, all a-swillin' and a-gluggin', awful crappy music blaring out of awful crappy speakers. Go home hiso!

It is their country. You are just a tourist. You have no rights here.

I feel the need to stir the pot. Does anyone else believe this is a DELIBERATE effort to kill the red-light venues, as an indirect way to actualize the xenophobia of the current “administration.” They hate foreigners, they want them out, and this is an effective way to do it without overtly declaring so; similar to the retirement alterations

There is no other logic behind these specific closures, considering that places like tree town are blatantly selling alcohol and the place is packed with people every night. there is no logic in closing open air bars if this is allowed max

Very much right and IF I would be e retiree, I definitely would have left when these clowns took over.
