A suspect in the attempted murder of a friend and neighbor at a drinks party in a shop in Mahasarakham was arrested on a warrant in Chiang Mai yesterday.

Anuphap or "Yui", 45, had been on the run for nine years.

He was arrested by Pol Lt-Col Suriyon Ratchaphansaen in front of the MT Intermed Hospital in Muang district of Chiang Mai, reported Daily News

He was named in a warrant issued in Mahasarakham in July of 2012 for attempted murder and weapons' offences.

It is claimed that on July 3rd of that year Anuphap shot Theerawat in the chest at a drinks party in a grocer's shop after a disagreement.

He then went on the run.

An informant gave information leading to his arrest.

The suspect acknowledged that he was the man named in the warrant and was taken back to the north east to face prosecution.
