Buyer & Seller responsibilities for Purchase/Sale of Vehicle

Featured Replies

I am selling my Honda CRV. I live in Chiang Mai and my DL has my Chiang Mai address and I also have a Yellow Tambien Baan with my Chiang Mai address.

The car was originally purchased in Bangkok and has a Bangkok license plate.

The Buyer lives in Chiang Mai as well.

How do I transact the sale with the Land Transport Office here in Chiang Mai?  I'm being told I have to drive the car to the Bangkok Land Transport Office in order to accomplish the sale!!???

DLT Ping River did my green book change last year from seller in Chiang Rai. Inspect bike there for serial numbers.

Had to wait about 2 weeks for the actual plate.

Blue book I would imagine the same.

You might have to change to Chiang Mai plate first - unknown.

If it is still on BKK plate the Blue book must be changed too as the address is not correct

Nothing special involved, the only difference compared to selling/buying a car which is registered in Chiang Mai is that the buyer has to go to the DLT twice, because they need a few days to transfer the car registration from Bangkok to Chiang Mai before he can transfer it in his name.

You as seller don't need to do anything special.
