Ban Muang published pictures of the aftermath of a collision between a pickup and a car on Monday afternoon in Kanchanaburi in the west of Thailand.

Phanomthuan police attended the scene where Miracle of Life rescue teams were busy cutting out and ferrying 5 occupants of a Tiger to hospital.

The driver of the badly mangled front portion of a Lancer was not so fortunate.

Sutthisak, 32, was crushed to death behind the wheel.

Witnesses reported the car going straight at speed and the pickup doing a U-turn.

Police are trying to get to the bottom of what happened and if anyone went through a red light.

Just through the sound barrier by the look of it.

Another U-turn crash. Who'da thought it. I tell my friends in the real world that you can be going along in the fast lane doing 100kph and suddenly see in front of you vehicles at a stop in your lane. They don't believe me. Yet the Thais see nothing wrong with it and to them it's completely normal.

must be brake failure and not speeding !!! ow well done the thai,s

Another U-Turn crash. It was a 4 way intersection controlled by traffic lights. The pick up was doing a right turn.

Sorry, I was misled by the lying witnesses. From the article: Witnesses reported the car going straight at speed and the pickup doing a U-turn.

Yes the pickup was doing a right turn, and the car sort of made it a U turn.

RIP to the poor people who lost their lives over this senseless accident.

The car seems to be traveling at a very high rate. doubt anyone making the turn would have been able to see it coming.

You can't tell from the video if the lights were red for the pickup, but in any case, the Lancer was going WAY too fast for an approach to a junction, no matter what colour the lights. . . and the after market wide rim allows and boy racer spoiler on the tail are all you need to know. Another one eliminates himself from the risk pool and the world gets a little safer.

Yes the car appeared to be moving at a rapid pace.

Hard to see the lights, but in Thailand I am used to them having filter lights on the turn.... basically nobody has to give way, but wait for their green light.

It is dangerous out there guys, don't get impatient.

The wide rim, what did it allow ?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Like the spoiler on the back, no road legal vehicle could ever go fast enough for a spoiler to make any difference to the handling of the vehicle, they're just cosmetic addons for little boy racer pricks.

While it is understandably horrible to hear about another traffic accident, some thought could be taken to prevent certain kinds of accidents.  For instance, some roads in Thailand are in need of repair, because unless they are repaired, the occasional accident to motor bikes is likely to occur--for example due to holes and other damaged road surfaces--such as on Sanamchai Road in Mueang Suphan Buri.
