Vietnam records 16,093 new local Covid cases: Hanoi tops the list

Vietnam on Sunday recorded 16,093 new local Covid-19 cases, with Hanoi recording the highest number.

 

The capital city recorded 1,405 cases, followed by Ca Mau with 1,345 cases and Ho Chi Minh City with 1,014 cases.

 

215 deaths were added to the national database, with 57 cases in HCMC, 23 in Dong Nai, 18 in Binh Duong, 16 in An Giang, 13 in Tien Giang, 12 in Can Tho, 11 each in Soc Trang and Dong Thap, nine in Tay Ninh, seven in Binh Thuan, six each in Binh Phuoc and Vinh Long, five each in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Tra Vinh, three each in Hanoi, Ben Tre, Khanh Hoa and Bac Lieu, two in Long An and one each in Quang Ngai and Hau Giang.

 

The total number of deaths so far is 29,566 cases, or around 2 percent of all infections.

 

10,799 Covid-19 patients were announced recovered on Sunday, bringing the number of recovered cases to 1,017,962 cases.

 

The infection tally in the fourth wave since late April has reached 1,534,066 cases.

 

75.6 million people have received their first Covid-19 vaccine shots, 61.8 million their second shots and 1.1 million their third shots.
