Primark: How Do They Do It?...........Doco Channel 5    24th April 2022  --ChaosTV

I know this will have a limited audience, but I found it fascinating--not so much that from 1 small shop they are now the biggest clothing retailer in the UK, with in roads into Europe and USA--Tesco done that in the 50s . But the way they have done it-- the opposite from any type of retailing seen before.

No we wont advertise--No we wont sell on the internet.....and the reasons make you think,  of course why hasn't anyone done it that way before.

-----------------------------

Documentary delving into the secrets of the UK's biggest clothing retailer, revealing how a small Irish department store grew to become a high-street behemoth. The programme shows how the company's unique approach to advertising gets it plenty of publicity without a big outlay, and looks at how stores are carefully designed and curated to get customers through the door and spending freely.

And just last night I was perusing the BBC iPlayer for something to watch and came across the movie, "Official Secrets" starring Keira Knightley and Ralf Fiennes,

Thanks for that tip. I don't think I'd have found that without your tip off. I'm a fan of BBC's documentaries and the one that has my rapt attention just now is 'House of Maxwell'. The rise and the ultimate collapse of Robert Maxwell's empire and family. What story that was. Last episode tonight.

I thought the House of Maxwell was great and it resonated with me because I was a young man when the dastardly deed was done.................also Official Secrets is a movie but could have easily been a doco, and very enjoyable.

It was said that Lucas was happy to confess to many murders that he didn't comitt, and the police were happy to close what were cold cases.

There's quite a few documentaries about Gacy going around. This one (6 eps) I saw recently reckons that half of the victims he's supposed to have killed were committed by someone else. He wasn't even in the state at the times of the murders according to his receipts, bills etc.

Regarding the final season of Better Call Saul, note that the thirteen episodes have been broken into to two groups, a bit like Breaking Bads' finals season.

Episode 1: April 18, 2022
Episode 2: April 18
Episode 3: April 25
Episode 4: May 2
Episode 5: May 9
Episode 6: May 16
Episode 7: May 23

Episode 8: July 11
Episode 9: July 18
Episode 10: July 25
Episode 11: August 1
Episode 12: August 8
Episode 13 (series finale): August 15

Looks like an upcoming binge watch on 16th August!

I simply thought Slow Horses referred to being put out to pasture, or sent to the glue factory, as they cannot win races anymore. Then I realized its also a homonym for Slough House. D'oh!

I think it can be used both ways, but I would lean towards the English slang  “slow horse” to compare someone's intelligence or skill with that of the slowest horse in the race. I think that, because his novels center around those sort of themes --old English adages/slang --first  are slow horses-next is Dead Lions.. (better to be a mangy old dog--then a Dead Lion) You can imagine in Mi5 who the Mangy old dog is and who the "Dead" King Of the jungle was.

Then Real Tigers......etc etc  He does write a lot of other stuff (private detective novels)  his latest book Bad Actors comes out in 10 days.

(Bad actors = trouble makers. -- the boy became a bad actor early and ended in reform school)

Yes, high marks for the first six eps., I did like David Cartwright's (Jonathan Pryce) comment about George Smiley.

Gary Oldman, among others, has said in interviews that the next six eps are in the can, but no idea when Apple + might drop them? Based on the positive reviews - haven't seen any view-counts - a season 3 might be green-lit shortly.

I have to admit that I did not get all the meanings of the show title until ep. 5. I simply thought Slow Horses referred to being put out to pasture, or sent to the glue factory, as they cannot win races anymore. Then I realized its also a homonym for Slough House. D'oh!

Re: Tokyo Vice, I enjoyed it but the ending left a bit of a sour taste, with the last line not really making any sense. Obviously if there's a season 2 then this can be remedied.

Just binge watched in one sitting Tokyo Vice, really enjoyed all episodes of this one.

Hope season 2 does not take too long to make.

I was thinking they used to make such tv series about 16 episodes long then it dropped to 12, then 10 and now the norm seems to be 8 per season.

I watched (some of) Uncharted last night--honestly it should be classified as a comedy. No one can die, not even when you get thrown out of a plane--

The pick-pocketing is so laughable , You just shook hands with her--"Yes" -that means the gold cross that you have packed at the bottom of the rucksack thats on your back has gone--"let me look..yes I didn't see her take it.

I guess the target audience is the 13-17 year old mark. So it should make a squillan $$$

Whats Mark Wahlberg doing stuff like that for---he's the main reason I downloaded it.

Based on a video game. Some films based on video games are OK. Some apparently are not.

Another Netflix documentary... Monsters Inside  - The 24 faces of Billy Milligan...   https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15287836/

Am assuming the movie Split https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4972582/ & the sequel Glass https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6823368/was loosely based on Billy...

Mesmerizing stuff...
