Popular Post webfact
Public anger is growing after five key convicts in high-profile corruption scandals were granted hefty cuts to their jail terms. Four were convicted for their role in the Yingluck government’s graft-riddled rice-pledging scheme. Over the past year, their original court-set terms have been cut by more than half — and upwards of three-quarters in some cases. The move has angered both supporters and critics of the government, who in a rare consensus agree that the Justice Ministry and Corrections Department are being “too generous” with graft convicts, who include former Cabinet members, senior civil servants and businesspeople. And Red Bull... well we know how that worked out. 5

Popular Post Stargeezr
Hey even if some posters do not like it said. Thailand is indeed a third world country and we cannot expect any more from it than we all watch and witness. This is that sad fact of the situation, and their present government is another reflection of Thailand. 3
spidermike007
This administration is already likely down to a 2% approval rating. What can be worse than than? Hopefully, at some point the people of this fine nation will rise up and say ENOUGH! Out with the pathetic, creepy, super corrupt, soulless dinosaurs!

Andycoops
No doubt it's a case of many envelopes stuffed with the usual, enabling such largesse to carry the corruption even further.

robblok
Like so many said cant punish the corrupt too much because if they ever get convicted themselves they would face the same punishment. Better to show leniency so when its their turn it wont be too bad. Shameful.

Really? In 2014 the duly and legally elected civilian government was over thrown in a military coup. Fact. The general who ran the coup was declared the PM. Fact. A new constitution was written after the old constitution was torn up with no input from the people of Thailand. Fact. A new election was called in 2019 and the results took over 1 month to be announced. Fact. One opposition political party was dissolved and the 6 million plus voters were disenfranchised. Fact. The EC changed its own rules after the election to favour parties who did not win any seats in the election IF they allied themselves to the PPRP. Fact. The 250 senators were handpicked by Prayuth and friends and NOT elected at a general election. Fact. The PM was elected as an outsider (allowed under the new constitution) and overwhelmingly endorsed by the senate. Fact. The full and proper oath of allegiance to the King was not taken but allowed anyway. Fact. Those facts alone make Thailand far on its way to a 3rd world country whether you say so or not, like it or not. 4

This fact not unusual even for first world country that use pardon power to free their allies or authoritarian government who don’t go after their inner cycle. All condemnable.
