COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in Thailand’s Phuket province over the past week, with  a total of 167 COVID-19 Omicron variant cases among Thais and foreign tourists being detected to date, according to provincial health chief Dr. Kusak Kukiattikul.

The number of infections on the resort island increased from 30 cases on December 29th to 64 each on January 1st  and 3rd before jumping to 149 yesterday (Tuesday), according to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Dr. Kusak said there are between 40 and 50 additional possible Omicron cases, whose samples have been sent for lab tests for confirmation. Over 400 possible cases have been sent for confirmation tests and 12 have returned positive for COVID-19, including 11 Omicron cases.

At least 2 times test plus vaccinated. And a maybe runny nose creates paranoia. Speechless.

Is the daily tick-by-tick of cases really necessary? It's just plain STOO-PID. Who cares?!?

From what I gather, looking at @xylophone's posts on the Patong Wake thread and my daughter's friends, many people with symptoms are either not testing or if they have a positive test, not reporting it. Thailand's unique hospitalisation policy will possibly exacerbate the covid situation, though from various other reports, this may be a good thing.

Here in the UK over 200,000 new cases were reported yesterday, mostly omicron, yet life in London goes on pretty much normally, with pubs and restaurants open, live entertainment and sports continuing, shops open and doing a decent trade. There's even talk of scrapping the PCR test for arrivals from overseas.

I really hope the Phuket Governor doesn't overreact as this any type of lockdown or closure of bars and restaurants will be a disaster for the slow recovery of the tourism industry.

Forget about Omicron, France has a new virus, coming from ... Africa, Kameroen.

You can google it, im not making it up. Was on news internet (MSN) this morning, but already many sites come up with it

Not yet another Greek letter, but it is there.

Good thing from WHO, forget about other countries to vaccinate and you ll get new ones on your plate.

That is proven now ever since pandemic started.

We are running around in circles with no proper actions.  Pfizer and Modena are laughing their ass of.
