Health guidelines for visiting Thailand’s national parks

Recommendations for visitors and the general public to minimizse the risk of COVID-19 infection and transmission.

Bangkok – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to provide health guidelines for visitors planning to visit any of Thailand’s 155 national parks nationwide, as well as other forest parks up and down the country to protect yourself, any loved ones travelling with you, and the Thai public at large from the community spread of COVID-19.

 

The following are the guidelines and recommendations as announced by the Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), an agency of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

 

Before / Upon Arrival at the Parks

 

Day trip visitors must undergo entry screening before entering the park. They also must assess their health and potential risks using the required applications; such as, Thai Save Thai.

 

Overnight visitors staying at the park’s bungalow-style accommodation or camping must have either of the following:

 

• A certificate of vaccination that they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with an approved vaccine;
• A certificate of recovery that they have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 1-3 months;
• A medical certificate with an RT-PCR lab result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected issued no more than 7 days, or
• A negative test result by a self-Antigen Test Kit (ATK) upon arrival at the park’s accommodation check-in location.

 

While in the Parks

 

All visitors must strictly follow the Universal Prevention for COVID-19 and DMHTT precautions: D – Distancing, M – Mask wearing, H – Handwashing, T – Temperature check, and T – Thai Chana or Mor Chana application.

 

In addition, all visitors must adhere to the health guidelines and recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as announced by the respective provinces, in line with the area’s situation.

 

Preventive Actions at the Parks

 

The DNP also have guiding principles for the administrators of the national parks and forest parks. These include re-opening and closing policies, cleaning and disinfecting the facilities, ensuring social distancing, avoiding large crowd gatherings or reducing the number of attendees, and also applying preventive measures among park staff.

Could be a good money spinner. 70 Baht for Thai's (or Asian foreigners that look a bit Thai), 700 Baht for white foreigners.

 

If anyone complains, just tell them they aren't overcharging white foreigners. Thai's (or Thai looking Asians) are simply getting a 90% discount ????.

For me the spread  of COVID at outside national parks was never an issue.  So I think these rules are just not necessary.

what sort of idiots are these people ? who takes a pcr test to visits a national park and then they wonder why they have no business, and who will risk being thrown in a hospital prison on testing positive on arrive for a national park visit ?

I wonder how many of us avoid like the plague anywhere where there is a likelihood of being tested and banged up in an expensive quarantine facility?

2 weeks ago we visited 3 national parks in one day. I think all related as only paid in the first and then just handed the tickets over at the next 2, as per usual it was 40 baht for my lady, 30 baht for the car and 200 baht for me. Anyway, I wind down the car window at all the entrance kiosks with no face mask at all 3 and not a single word of complaint  from anyone. At one my Thai lady had to get out of the car and register and take a temperature check but no request for me to do the same nor were we asked to take any other sort of test although signs above the kiosks in both Thai and English said we should. On walking around inside the parks I was always the only falang and all were quite busy and I would say that 75%+ of all the visitors were maskless including 3 monks on a sightseeing trip and enjoying their day out. And I for one who does have breathing difficulties with wearing one was totally relieved at being able to walk around without one and actually enjoy myself.

I don't think that 'health' guidelines are the first thing on most foreign visitors' (presumably foreigners, as it is in English) minds when visiting the national parks...

I stopped going to them when the parks dept started charging several times the Thai price for the privileged of paying and treating my Thai nieces and nephews to a day out. I certainly didn't begrudge paying for them. It was always a pleasure for me to take the kids on trips, but it's the principle of the thing.
