Anutin has also repeatedly expressed annoyance around lack of mask-wearing compliance in public, especially among foreign tourists

"foreigners should be kicked out of Thailand were not wearing face masks"

"many farang dress dirtily and don't shower. All hosts have to be very careful"

"Thailand’s health minister apologizes for not wearing a face mask"

Anutin knows that the omicron variant has already spread through the population here, even if the daily government numbers are paltry. While opening up the nightlife venues will undoubtedly contribute to the spread, one has to wonder if it really matters at this point.

Hospitalizations are very low, and most infected people stay home (or just go about their business and spread the virus further). There is really very little the government can do about.

Yes, this is a never ending story with many losers such the school kids and the rest of us. Just how many deaths have happen from Omicron in Thailand? Will there be a end to this story or will it go on and on year after year?

Mr. Anutin reportedly stated, according to Thai media, that there were “no plans” for reopening this industry anytime soon, despite ongoing outcry from business owners in this sector.

Yep, they just want to crush them all so then they can bring their new Thailand image to the world, which will be a flop as many will go elsewhere for what they want.

They can make the commoners wear masks pretty much forever as the Hannibal Lecter look for its citizens is in vogue..

Manila is already more open than Thailand, yes there was an initial increase in case however not a significant increase in hospital utilisations.  The government here seems to understand that the country needs to get back to as close to normal as possible, then again, it is not controlled by a dictative regime.

Rodrigo Duterte loves wielding his power too, but not to the extent where he destroys his country.
