Siam Rath reported on an accident involving a Mercedes Benz being driven by a former 2015 Miss Universe Thailand beauty contestant.

She is Patcharada Monthathip aged 27 also known as Ploy.

She was driving the car that slammed into a six wheel truck carrying empty yoghurt bottles on the Ekkamai North bridge crossing Petchaburi Road in Huay Khwang, Bangkok yesterday.

Police said she was taken to hospital and has not been able to give evidence yet. No charges have yet been filed.

Dead in the passenger seat was a 33 year old who is a business person arranging for migrants to come and work in Thailand and who is connected to "The Media New Normal" media group.

The gender of this person was not reported.

Ploy is also the owner of a well known beauty business catering to many celebrities.

Makkasan police are studying CCTV to try to ascertain what happened.

Here we go again - Coverup pending ................!!!

This is a nasty crash.. can't even fathom how the accident happens to cause such damage...looks like a concrete block has hit the car from above, good thing the lady has survived...

I'm sure that they could remove and analyse the on board computer data to determine exactly how fast she was driving as well as how long she braked for before the moment of impact.  RIP to the passenger.

Close to warp speed, 0 seconds.

It takes a lot to crash a CLS250 to such a heap of scrap.

In broad daylight!

Maybe very busy doing business on her smartphone?

As they alway say speed kills. Unfortunatly there is not Thai translation for this phrase.

From the headline 'no charges yet'.

I would be more worried about the hospital charges.

She seems to have well filled accounts and likely a "platinum" type insurance card.

Or an "undie-cover" investigation?

I always say speed doesn't kill... it's the sudden stop!

Is that why all racing car drivers die after every race?

Yes, but....................

“No charges have yet been filed.”

Nor will they be.

Doesn't matter if they are famous if driving skills are not evident.

This is what happens when you get your license from a packet of cornflakes.

What a mess!  Hitting, driving under multi-tonne trucks is never advisable.
