webfact Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Picture: Sim Rath A monk was behind the wheel of a Nissan Sunny that smashed into a lamppost and road sign in Ta Ong sub-district of Muang Surin in north east Thailand yesterday afternoon. Phra Warin of Wat Phrik Thaksin had been returning from a religious songs singing competition at Chula University. With him in the car were four of his religious studies students he taught at a school. Dead at the scene was Weeraphan, aged just 11. Three other students aged 12 (2) and 11 were also in the car. One subsequently died in hospital, reported Siam Rath. They reported that there was heavy rain and the car aquaplaned after hitting flood waters by a T-juction and bend. Thenmee police are investigating. Perhaps yet another case of not adapting to the driving conditions? Roads don't seem to be built with a camber here so standing water is a very common problem after heavy rain. R.I.P to the two youngsters who died. 9

Looking at the damage to the car he must have been going ridiculously faster than the conditions allowed for. The monk should be charged with causing death by reckless driving, and jailed for it, rather than being allowed to sneak back to the temple. 16

I would like to know who They are? because I would doubt that the 11 or 12 year old's would come out with a statement like "the car aquaplaned" it could be possible this did happen although I would be surprised given it was a T-junction and bend but giving the benefit of doubt very poor reporting. 3

He may have been a drunk Monk, not unusual to find in Thailand. . RIP to the deceased 4
blazes Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Maybe the monk should have bought a special amulet before getting behind the wheel of the car... 1
richard_smith237 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 A wai and a short spell in a temple should sort this out then.... ... So the monk basically just need to continue on is way... .... I wonder if the monk was automatically charged with 'reckless driving driving resulting in loss of life’ as is any other driver automatically charged when involved in an accident which results in death - until of course the charges are dropped after a minor investigation. 1

Popular Post worgeordie Posted February 15, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 15, 2022 A Monk driving , is that the same as a VIP driving, where nothing happens , it's never the drivers fault, always road conditions, micro sleep, faulty brakes etc. RIP the 2 kids. regards worgeordie 3 3
Dont confuse me Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Regardless of who is to blame/at fault its tragic waste of life. 2
Popular Post rwill Posted February 15, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 15, 2022 Monks aren't supposed to drive. But it seems to have become more commonplace. 3
Popular Post RichardColeman Posted February 15, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 15, 2022 Monk driving ? First thing they should do is test for drugs, alcohol and a spare woman in the trunk going by recent stories on here of depraved monk habits ! 4
1duckyboy Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Did the monk have a driver license? I think not. 2
