Ukraine: Apparent War Crimes in Russia-Controlled Areas

Summary Executions, Other Grave Abuses by Russian Forces

These include a case of repeated rape; two cases of summary execution, one of six men, the other of one man; and other cases of unlawful violence and threats against civilians between February 27 and March 14, 2022

“The cases we documented amount to unspeakable, deliberate cruelty and violence against Ukrainian civilians,” said Hugh Williamson, Europe and Central Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “Rape, murder, and other violent acts against people in the Russian forces’ custody should be investigated as war crimes.”

Yet one more example of Putin’s miscalculations.

Count Vlad is a sick man, seriously. Apparently he has a tumour on the brain.

Where is he hiding now? Some say he is in a nuclear bunker in Siberia over the Urals with his family.

And that’s probably just one of many examples of war crimes being committed by Russian troops.

Normal day's work for the Russkies.

PS,

How do u spell Russkie?

The more weapons sent to Ukraine the better.

On 9th May it is Victory day in Russia and usually there is a huge celebration with a large procession of its military and equipment in Red Square. Lets ensure the Ukraine tractor drivers own most of it by then!!

The UK government wants to supply Ukraine with anti-ship missiles to sink Russian warships, and ease the pressure on coastal cites they are bombarding from the sea, the Sunday Times is reporting.

The newspaper described the plan as part of a "gear change" in the West's response to the war.

It said UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson told ministers that he wanted to supply the weapons to prevent Russian forces from advancing on the southern port city of Odesa. Russian missile strikes hit the city this morning.

Plenty of unsupported claims being made on here, but because they are of the "correct" side not being held to account for it, IMO.

Please point to an unsupported claim made by the "correct side".

A leading rights group said on Sunday it had documented what it described as "apparent war crimes" committed by Russian military forces against civilians in Ukraine.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) issued a statement saying it had found "several cases of Russian military forces committing laws-of-war violations" in Russian-controlled regions such as Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Kyiv.

An aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday that Ukrainian troops had found the bodies of women who had been raped and set alight as well as the bodies of local officials and children.

"There are murdered men whose bodies bear signs of torture. Their hands were tied and they were killed by shots to the back of the head," Oleksiy Arestovych told Ukrainian television.

Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said scores of killed civilians were found on the streets of Bucha and the Kyiv suburbs of Irpin and Hostomel in what looked like a “scene from a horror movie.”

Arestovych said some people were shot in the head and had their hands bound, and some bodies showed signs of torture, rape and burning.

I linked the support. Here's more:

The former chief prosecutor of United Nations war crimes tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda has called for an international arrest warrant to be issued for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Putin is a war criminal,” Carla Del Ponte told the Swiss newspaper Le Temps in an interview published Saturday.

Nothing like murdering civilians then ransacking their homes. Take the loot back to Belarus and send back to Russia:

"Hello, darling,I looted, raped, tortured and killed in #Ukraine. But I am sending you a TV, air conditioners,e-scooters and other goods. I watched the 3-hour CCTV recording from a courier service in Mazyr, #Belarus. Russian servicemen send endless packages with what they stole"

Oooh, I'll bet that has Putin shaking in his shoes. If a trial that will likely have no effect on Putin and a few other high ranking Russians is all that the west is going to do, I'm happy about that as WW3 will do no one any good whatsoever.

I just hope Biden sticks to sending some anti tank missiles and such like, as it he felt the need to actually do something militarily it'll be worse than the Cuban missile crisis IMO, and we were just lucky in that one.

Why would the very experienced former prosecutor not matter? I'm sure many people listen to her advice.

Obviously the people that matter don't, as I don't see any sign of the Russians going home.

How many? From ~1500 (from Russian sources) to ~15000(from Ukrainian sources)
And how many soldiers can Vlad mobiliZe? About 30 million soldiers (full mobiliZation).
15000 of 30 million is about 0.05%. This will not stop the true eastern leader.

The liberation of Bucha, northwest of Kyiv, was cause for celebration, but sickening pictures of what Russian troops left behind is shaking the world. After several weeks of Russian occupation, Ukrainian forces, reporters, and humanitarian groups arriving in the town found streets littered with civilian bodies, civilian mass graves, and evidence of mass civilian executions, of torture, and other war crimes. Some Russian vehicles destroyed as they tried to flee the region were loaded with looted civilian goods—a sign that even as Russia was readying for retreat, thievery remained at the top of individual unit agendas.
