Reasonable arguments are welcome here. Mindless support for a fascist regime, however, will be called out.

More good news. Oil sanctions now biting.

Russia's Oil Revenue Sinks as Sanctions Bite – IEA

Russia's oil export revenue sank 42% in February as Western powers tightened sanctions on the country in the wake of the Ukraine war, the International Energy Agency said on Wednesday.

The country earned $11.6 billion from its oil exports last month after the European Union imposed a ban on Russian petroleum products alongside a price cap agreed with the Group of Seven and Australia, according to the IEA.

This was down from $14.3 billion in January and a 42% drop from $20 billion in February last year.

I could ask you the same thing, pal.

But since you asked: my main sources of information are quite varied, many of them what you would call main stream media. Also (since I’m Dutch) quite a few Dutch newspapers and websites.

Seems to me that certain posters have been thinking the western propaganda is fact.

Can't remember how many times we've been told that the Russians are going to run out of ammunition/ missiles etc, the troops were going to mutiny, the Russian economy is collapsing and other such like wishful thinking.

It is possible to look at the situation objectively without being a Putin sympathizer, but for some it's not enough unless posting about orcs and suchlike.

Seems to me some posters here watch RT a little too much and swallow all the ridiculous garbage they spew as fact.
Of course it’s possible to look at certain situations objectively, but when you’re dealing with a lunatic delusional dictator in charge of a fascist homicidal regime that wants to pretty much eradicate a whole country and its people, objectivity tends to go out the window, as far as I’m concerned.

Russia needs to be called out for what it is. Putin and his regime need to be called out for what they are. So excuse me for not pussyfooting around and calling a spade a spade. The Russians are behaving exactly like the nazi’s did in WWII, so calling them Orcs is more than justified. If I said what I really think about Putin and Russia I’d be banned for life from this forum, so I’ll stick to calling them Orcs (and suchlike) and leave it at that, okay?

I don't watch RT. The only tv source I watch is Al Jazeera, which IMO is the least biased news source available.

I think I can recognise propaganda, wherever I see it.

I tend to read news, not watch it so much. Certainly not sticking to one source which only gives you an echo chamber. I follow numerous MSM new agencies along with state controlled Russian media for their perspective and everything inbetween including Al Jazeera. Direct sources on the ground, officials of both sides and International bodies.

I could think of nothing worse than sticking to one source when looking for info on this illegal invasion into Ukraine

You need to look at facts.

What you're describing are opinions, predictions. There's plenty of factual reporting from the western media.

As one poster responded to you " You need to look at the facts". Bias is not necessarily my prime concern but facts are.

Al Jazzeera

Bias Rating: LEFT-CENTER
Factual Reporting: MIXED
Country: Qatar
Press Freedom Rank: LIMITED FREEDOM
Media Type: TV Station
Traffic/Popularity: High Traffic
MBFC Credibility Rating: MEDIUM CREDIBILITY

Al Jazeera - Media Bias/Fact Check (mediabiasfactcheck.com)

My go to News Service is the PBS, the most trusted in USA.

But if one is a discerning critical thinker a mixed range is fine.

I even watch Fox as you admitted on occasions. But mainly for entertainment.

PBS NewsHour

As for others recognising  propaganda, I think their actions are the best judge.

No, most on her will tell you that Russia will be defeated and Ukraine will win the battle/war.

If you believe your statement above wrt to Al Jazeera then you are sadly misguided in your beliefs and rational thinking (if any!)!

PS;  If you only watch one news' source how do you know it is balanced or trustful or not state controlled etc?

Doubtful UA will hold Bakhmut. They are getting decimated.

A growing number of Western military analysts argue that the situation in the eastern city has deteriorated to the point that defending it may now be more costly than it is worth."

it certainly seems so.

all information available since the fall of Soledar suggested AFU would retreat from Bakhmut.

they made the decision not to.

I'm certainly alarmed by that strategy, but I also consider the fact that the decision was made by the people who possess the best and newest intelligence about the situation.

I hope their strategy works out.

Evidently, AFU are suffering high losses.

I said it's the "least biased", not that it's perfect.

I don't know with regard to any news source, but it's pretty obvious what is propaganda if one uses common sense.

IMO it's become a symbol, so needs to be held or won.

By making it so important, it will be a massive blow to Ukrainian morale if lost, and if Russia wins it will be a huge boost to Russian troops.
