At the moment I'm using minidlna to stream from my computer to my Mi TV box (Android-based).  It works very well for video files with embedded subtitles.  However, when there's a separate subtitles file (.srt), that's not streamed, so I have to copy the video and subtitles files to a thumbdrive, which is inconvenient - particularly because the Mi TV's USB port is at the back.

 

Is there a way to stream both video and subtitles files from my desktop?
