There was high drama on the road leading out of Sattahip in the east of Thailand heading towards the U-Tapao airport.

A 49 year old man in a Mercedes Benz called Ritthipong deliberately went through a police checkpoint after being pulled over for a breath test.

Policemen jumped to save their lives as Ritthipong fled the scene.

But further up the road as a chase ensued he sideswiped a car and plowed into a group of four workers burying cables.

Soo, 19, from Myanmar died at the scene. Sanook reported that his Myanmar girlfriend Fah arrived and after being in floods of tears, fainted.

Preecha, 58 and another Myanmar national called Rin died in hospital.

Surachai, 30, was left seriously injured.

Ritthipong was taken to hospital with a broken rib.

In the earlier report the media suggested the driver of the Benz had "given a finger" to police and dared them to catch him

In a subsequent report Thai Rath said that Ritthipong is a toll booth cash collector.

Footage from the dash cam of his car showed that he had gone through a police checkpoint twice.

He had been allowed to pass on the first sweep but then he did a U-turn and across the road from the checkpoint started hurling abuse at the cops.

He dared them to search his vehicle belligerently saying: Have you got a search warrant? and hurling expletives.

He then went through the checkpoint a second time, was pulled over for a breath test but drove off at speed instead.

He has been slapped with five charges including negligent driving causing death, reckless driving, ignoring instructions of a policeman, attempting to injure a policeman and defamation.

Alcohol and drug tests results are pending.

When you sober up next day and realise you killed 3 possibly 4 people .Its got to be one hell of a hangover .

Sound like that a hole was high on something much worse than alcohol...

3 counts of murder and one attempted murder charge.

Should sort out his games for the rest of his life...

The finger having a different meaning in the pokey, hope he enjoys the party life.

Looks like the man should be stood in front of a speeding Train instead and allowed to have himself searched, well search for his body parts...

Well they certainly wouldn't have found a brain!
