Thai Rath reported that Lahansai police in Thailand's north eastern province of Buriram have arrested a wealthy resort owner on four charges including rape and human trafficking.

Earlier Noi, 44, had taken her 15 year old daughter to the police.

The M3 girl had claimed that Wirawong or "Hia Winai", 62, had forced her to have sex with customers at his resort.

She said that she had borrowed 6,300 baht from Wirawong beacuse her 70 year old grandmother needed emergency surgery and that he told her she must pay it back by sleeping with men.

She refused and he promised to expose and embarrass her so she decided to follow his instructions four times.

After this she said she would do it no more but he pressed her to continue saying that "he knows all the cops in the police station" so it was pointless her making a fuss.

Despite the threats she told her relatives.

Wirawong was served with an arrest warrant when he happened to go to the police station yesterday.

He denied everything saying he would fight the case in court.

The media reported him as saying he was rich, so why did he need to get mixed up in this illegal business.

He was refused bail.

Its pretty sad when such a statement is very very believable in this country.

It is hard to imagine someone with such moral depravity, that they would do this to a 15 year old girl. One can only hope this "rich half man worm" gets years in prison, where he can find out how useful his fortune is, with his new inmate friends, who are likely to make him feel very welcome, when they find out how he got there.

Would then be fun to interview him, and ask him how it felt to be violated many times.

I wonder if anything would have happened had he not gone to the police station ????

Ahem, because this is Thailand, he is rich, so he can?

One is forced to wonder where such depravity comes from. Why such a lack of a moral compass? Why such a sense of entitlement? Money alone does not cause this. There has to be an inherent pathology to do this to a young girl. A truly twisted and deranged soul this man is.

So much to education and nobody querying the source of money from a 15 year old girl, how sad and how very believable!

sad. another day another headline. nothing surprises me anymore when I peruse the headlines in the morning

The problem is in the upbringing.  People here have to remember that while Yes Thailand is in the 22 century and has all the trappings of a 22 century country a great deal of the way things are done and the way older people think  is still in the 1800's.

Take a look at the laws that are on the books.

Take a look at who is running the country and I do not mean the politicians.

Take a look at the way society treats people in general.

It was not that many decades ago that in Canada some schools taught religion and based their whole methodology on a religion belief.   Heck they even made you learn a dead language.

You have to wonder if he didn't plan this right from the start and offer her the money with this in mind.  She probably looked up to him.

So sad that such a system exists that the threat of "exposure and embarrassment" can allow someone to victimise another person in such a way.

The headline could have easily been "Wealthy Local Businessman Helps Poor Teen Save Her Sick Grandmother".  ????

Remember back in English history

If the poor had a problem they went to the lord of the manor  In North America you went to the riches and usually highest thought of.

As I said before Thailand may be in the 21st  (thanks) century tech wise but the thinking especially in the smaller country areas is still early 1800 and sooner.

This is not just a Thai thing though Pakistan and India for a good portion are stillin the same boat.

Almost as depraved ..She said that she had borrowed 6,300 baht as her 70 year old grandmother needed emergency surgery????

Possibly all from the police station getting freebie sex as the rich guy was friendly with them all, in his words anyway.
