Sanook Thai Caption: The moment a house collapses

Sanook had video of the collapse of a large house in Lampang, northern Thailand where there has been severe flooding.

A woman could be heard to shriek as the house creaked and collapsed next door. Then crying could be heard.

The house was in the Ban Nam Long estate in Ngao district.

The owner of the property, a lady called Somthat Kankaew, said she had filmed the end of her house herself.

She explained that the previous evening she had left it after a flash flood and gone to stay with relatives nearby for her own safety.

The foundations of her house had been seriously eroded.

The video also showed army personnel helping other stricken victims and local volunteers clearing up after the floods.

Few nails and a coat of paint and it will be fine

Desperately sad. Things like this put our minor little gripes into perspective.

Probably what caused it?

Can't understand why people insist on putting there houses up on posts and not using any sway braces

Just an accident waiting to happen

Would you be so flippant if it was your home?

How sad for the lady owner. I hope that nobody was hurt or in the house when it happened.

To be fair, I could imagine this Thai home owner playing the world's smallest violin if this farang lost his home to some barwench.

Wouldn't surprise me if he'd even have a good belly laugh about it with his pals; I am sure they wouldn't talk about it solomnly and feel genuine empathy -- that's a farang thing to do.

As much as I kinda feel a little sorry for this guy, I have been in Thailand long enough to know they don't truly care about each other.

There are a few exceptions.
