Cannabis-Intoxicated British Man Arrested for Trespassing and Overstay
The whole narrative relating to cannabis use is so dumb. If anything, the cannabis made the guy less aggressive when he did a runner. He would have done a runner anyway because he was on visa overstay, and he had broken into some homes, but likely the cannabis subdued him a bit and made him easier to deal with. Imagine he was a bit drunk instead. Then he probably would have been far more violent and aggressive for the police to deal with at that point. Might have ended up in a blood filled tussle, and with half his clothes getting torn off in the process, whilst trying to capture the guy. Have seen the photos with drunk and bloodied guys down in Pattaya too many times. This guy came out looking fine after being apprehended. Thank goodness for his cannabis use. -

Polvanera 17 Primitivo DOP Gioia del Colle: Bringing Puglia's Masterpiece to Thailand
Image courtesy of Polvanera Polvanera 17, a masterpiece amongst Puglia’s Primitivi, has conquered tables around the world and now lands in Thailand. This wine, known for its intense and refined sapidity, offers an unforgettable taste experience, representing at its best the terroir of Puglia and in particular, that of the town of Gioia del Colle. Polvanera 17 is part of the Polvanera collection that celebrates the winemaking tradition of Primitivo di Gioia del Colle PDO. Polvanera 17 remains the flagship product of this winery, which was originally introduced to Thailand in 2019, with two other Primitivo labels (the versatile Polvanera 14 and the seductive Polvanera 16), the surprising Aglianico, and two sparkling wines (the complex and elegant metodo classico Macchia di Gatto Brut and the fresh-tasting Maresco Brut, Charmat method). Perhaps not everyone knows that Polvanera is available in Thailand, with its younger and more extroverted line (La Marchesana), designed for refined palates that do not intend to give up a quality organic wine but are looking for something more suitable for everyday and informal use. Image via Polvanera La Marchesana Primitivo and Negroamaro have become true best-sellers in Thailand over the years, and they have recently been joined by the brand new Susumaniello (whose first vintage produced was in 2023). The Polvanera winery, led by owner Filippo Cassano is spread over 160 hectares of vineyards, a good portion of which are dedicated to Primitivo. It is also distinguished by its sustainable approach with production being entirely organic and favoring traditional methods. Made exclusively from Primitivo grapes from the Montevella vineyard, Polvanera 17 reflects the terroir from which it comes; a karst soil rich in minerals, an altitude of more than 400 metres, and swings in temperature – with warm, breezy days and cool nights. After a manual harvest, a four-week maceration follows and an ageing of 36 months total, between steel and bottle, achieving a balance that makes it perfect to enjoy immediately but also will keep well for up to five or six years. Image via Polvanera Thanks to this careful winemaking process, Polvanera 17 has an intense purple-red colour, accompanied by a rich bouquet with notes of berries and delicate floral nuances and hints of liquorice and graphite. The palate is an imposing and elegant wine, the tannins are pleasant and velvety, supported by vibrant acid and mineral veins that lend freshness and persistence. The finish is endless, perfectly aligned with the olfactory notes, creating a perfect harmony between nose and mouth. Polvanera 17 lends itself to a wide range of food pairings, enhancing its characteristics. It pairs perfectly with red meat dishes and aged cheeses. To savour all of its nuances, it should be served at a temperature of 18°C. Despite its complex structure and significant alcohol content (16.5%), this wine remains surprisingly light, making it an excellent choice for both experienced connoisseurs and those approaching the world of wine for the first time. Polvanera 17, is not only a wine of excellent quality but also one of the winery’s most-awarded wines. Among the most prestigious awards is the Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso, which Polvanera 17 has won repeatedly, establishing itself as a benchmark in the Apulian and Italian wine scene. Image via Polvanera In addition, it has won five Grappoli from the Bibenda 2024 guide, one of the most-coveted awards in the Italian wine community and has received high scores in major wine guides, such as Doctor Wine and the Guida Oro Veronelli. Every sip of Polvanera 17 is a journey through the vineyards of Puglia, an experience capable of thrilling even the most refined palates. Its arrival in Thailand marks the beginning of a new adventure, ready to win over the hearts of Thai wine lovers all over the country. For more information, you can consult the Polvanera 17 technical sheet and discover all the awards won by Polvanera 17 on the official Thai Facebook page of Cantine Polvanera. Image via Polvanera -

Having kids when old
'm thinking it's actually better to be a good father at any age than being absent when the children are young, age 0-5, which are the most important ages a child goes through, learning most of what they need to know. I'm actually still in Thailand, only because I'm waiting for the right time to re-establish back in the US with her. We had her when I was 60, 68 now, and still in good health. Of course I hope to live long enough to see her independent in the world at 20 or more. Many fathers don't give a rats ass about their children, and leave raising up to the mothers or grandmas, especially here, which isn't a good thing for any child, so a father in a child's life is very important, especially in those formative years. -

Cannabis-Intoxicated British Man Arrested for Trespassing and Overstay
Can a luuk kreung be on overstay? Yes... If they don't have Thai nationality. i.e. IF he was born overseas to Thai & UK parents - then never applied for a Thai Passport or Thai ID. Then entering Thailand on a UK passport as he has no other means to enter. He's could still be what is termed 'a luk Kreung' - (half Thai / Half British) or more accurately, both Thai and British.... but without legal Thai Identification (ID card and Passport). -

Tim Walz's Verbal Missteps Stir Concerns Amid Tight Campaign
Worrying about politicians telling lies is a waste of energy on everyone's part (including on this thread). What is important (especially in debates) is which candidate gives the appearance of great intelligence and who could be trusted to perform bravely and intelligently in a crisis. Only Vance in my opinion shows the strength and honesty of character to stand for the highest office. The rest are dross.... -

Harris Lies, Americans Die. Illegal Aliens are more Important
Don't know what trump has to do with my thoughts, or thoughs of family in N.C. All safe, and that's all that matters. The area is a bit isolated, since some, many roads are impassible, or just not there any more. Would think with all the rain, they got plenty of water. Bag a deer, and they can eat for a month. They're are fairly self sufficient, and far from helpless, luckily. -

Looking for a good map (or maps) of Koh Chang
The Royal Thai Survey Department used to make very good and detailed cartographic maps of Thailand, scale 1:50,000 if I’m not mistaken. And there were several bookshops in Bangkok and Chiang Mai where you could buy those maps. The website of the RTSD has been unavailable for many months, though, and I’m not sure you can still buy RTSD maps in any book shop. Does anyone know where/how I can get my hands on the RTSD maps of Koh Chang? I believe one map covers most of the island, and the other one covers the southernmost strip plus most of the islands south of Koh Chang. I’m a bit of a map aficionado, to put it mildly, and I especially love good and very detailed cartographic maps. I’m thinking of spending next winter (2025/26) on Koh Chang, and having a good map of the island would be quite essential for me. Any and all help/advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks! -
