onthedarkside
Houston (CNN) — Former President Donald Trump and other GOP leaders rejected efforts to overhaul gun laws and mocked Democrats and activists calling for change Friday at the National Rifle Association’s annual convention. The gathering this weekend in Houston is taking place 280 miles east of the South Texas town of Uvalde, where 19 children and two adults were killed by a gunman at an elementary school Tuesday. Hours before top Republicans were scheduled to speak in Houston, law enforcement officials in Uvalde acknowledged that they had waited too long to breach the classroom where a gunman was shooting children and teachers. But those mistakes, and their ramifications on proposals to place more armed police and teachers in schools, went unmentioned in speeches by Trump and other Republicans. Caution: Have vomit bags at the ready.
Popular Post Jerno
Stating their position on guns, OK. But mocking those with opposing views in the wake of the horrific shooting just days ago is beyond ethics. It's plain ignorant and callousness. Trump is a fidiot.
SunnyinBangrak
Nice move by Trump to read the victims names out with a gong after each name. Very respectful and appropriate. A much better response than trying to make political gain on the back of the tragedy and other divisive behavior we have seen. 5 3

A sickening response to a tragedy simply for political gain and to placate the NRA. Constitutions can be amended and in this case most certainly should but nobody has the balls to do anything about it because of the huge amounts of money backing certain politicians/ political parties. The right to bear arms? The right to murder small children more like it. 7 3

Spot on there and wouldn't it be nice if one day we read the headlines that NRA nutcases and their supporters were shooting themselves in a mass suicide shooting spree. At least it would rid the planet of those who condone mass murder in US schools. 1
BangkokReady
Why do Americans never seem willing to actually address the root cause of this? Most of these gunmen are from broken homes and severely bullied at school, but all they ever talk about are guns. The media will say that he didn't have a father, his mother was absent from his life, everyone at school bullied him, he had no friends, was completely socially isolated, but act like that means nothing and solely focus on guns. Why does it seem like Americans don't care about the mental state of their youth even a tiny bit? Do these people actually care about anything other than doing things that annoy conservatives? It kind of seems like a symptom of the problem. Americans don't care about their children, they only care about annoying their political rivals, which could be why they're in this mess in the first place. 1 1

Berkshire
There was a time when a certain former President actually wanted to do something about gun violence....without success. [Trump’s support for gun control measures — which he unrolled on live television from the White House on Feb. 28, 2018 — astonished lawmakers from both parties. But the next day, NRA officials met with Trump without any cameras or reporters in the room, and he immediately backed down.] [At the White House the next day, Trump was so shaken by the weekend’s violence that he questioned aides about a specific potential solution and made clear he wanted to take action, according to three people present during the conversation. “What are we going to do about assault rifles?” Trump asked.] [Trump’s repeated interest in pushing for gun control as president flew in the face of his public image as an absolutist on Second Amendment issues who fiercely guarded his standing with the NRA.] https://www.yahoo.com/news/el-paso-shooting-trump-pushed-143313796.html

bbko
Over the past 3 decades I've voted for both Dems and Repubs, always voting for whom I thought would do best in whatever office. If wanting low inflation, self sufficiency in energy, a strong border without open and unchecked flows of drugs and criminals, support for law and order, judging people on their actions not the color of their skin and a stable and peaceful world without starting new wars or getting involved with other sovereign nations business is all "far right" then sign me up for it. I was an Obama voter the 1st time but after he proved to be divisive by seemingly making everything about color, and the rise of ISIS and seeming hopelessness to deal with the rising radical islam I started to the Republicans. It is my feeling that the deep division in society which I think kicked off in earnest under Obama which has led to the increase in incidents like the school shooting. That it gets an OTT hysterical reaction every time from the democrats and media fuels the fire and more attention seeking losers have the idea to do a school shooting. A vicious cycle for sure. 1
Phoenix Rising
GOP Congressman Chris Jacobs (R-NY) Claims He'll Back Assault Weapons Ban After Mass Shootings "A majority of Americans favor an assault weapons ban, with 67% of people surveyed in a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll saying they’d support one, and a raise on the minimum age for firearms purchases was also supported by 72% of those surveyed in a Reuters/Ipsos poll. “If an assault weapons ban bill came to the floor that would ban something like an AR-15, I would vote for it,” Jacobs said. “Individuals can not buy beer, they can not get cigarettes at 21, I think it’s perfectly reasonable that the age limit – at least for these highly lethal, high-capacity, semi-automatic weapons – should be 21.”" To the US of A: Please, no more stupid "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" bovine feces. Two thirds of you are sane enough to understand that this is the right thing to do. If you use your voting powers accordingly things will change. Get it done! Hummin
Give teachers guns, when not trained police can handle guns or willing to move in before they have proper backing is a very smart move, and when a teachers gun can be used against themeslves and the kids if taken from them. And I have seen a teacher snap in own person, and with a gun in hand it can go wrong same as an police man out of control. Its very generous of American citizens to give their tax dollars to the Ukraine , especially at the expense of USA citizens who are struggling at the moment and some living in poverty in tents . Have they spoken to the guys living in tents in the USA and asked them how they feel about it ? US $ 6000000000 given to Ukraine
