Travelling with half-Thai children out of Thailand without the mother

What kind of document do I need to travel with my half-Thai children out of Thailand without the mother? I tried to call the local Amphur without any luck so far. I'm not married to their mother but I have joint custody. The kids have double passport.

They already travelled with me without any documents (other then the joint custody paper from the court and the birth certificate) but I was told to get a "letter of consent" from their mother to be safe. Is that the case? TIA

A similar situation was discussed at length several years ago on this forum.  Hopefully somebody will be able to provide a link.

I do recall that a notarized permission from the mother was required.  I do not recall if her presence was required at some point.

Laws regarding a single parent taking a minor out of the country are supposedly strictly enforced.

It's a commonly asked question there are plenty of threads on this forum asking the same question.

You can search in Google: Aseannow - taking child out of Thailand or something similar...

This thread contains a format of the document required.

There are numerous examples given but not one real good one. I'm planning a trip with my 10 yr old to the US for a short visit. She has both passports. She has my last name. I live with my daughter and her mother (we're not married) The only paperwork I have is her birth cert with me listed as father.

Would the Amphur be the best place to start?

Bryan Flowers YouTube guy in a video a few days ago said he needed a letter from kids mother, but also at the airport they had to do a video call with the mother to allow it. Have a look to check detail

Use the form you can find in the thread in the first link (about 7th post in from me).

Childs mother signs the form etc.

You can also get the form notarised at your local Amuphur office (they’d want to witness the childs mother signing the form).

The Immigration staff may still want to speak with the mother...

Or.... If they are being lazy they won’t bother.

I have flown internationally twice with my Son when my wife couldn’t travel (he was 3 and then 4 I think).

Immigration didn’t ask for anything, but that doesn’t mean they won’t.

(My son has my surname and he excited Thailand on his Thai Passport).
