Thailand's May consumer inflation reaches 14-year high

Thailand's May consumer inflation rose to the highest level since July 2008. The Ministry of Commerce attributed the CPI growth to higher food prices and energy costs.

 

BANGKOK, (Xinhua) -- Thailand's consumer inflation rose at a faster-than-expected pace of 7.1 percent year-on-year in May, the highest level since July 2008, on soaring energy and food prices, official data showed on Monday.

 

Growth of the country's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, exceeded April's 4.65 percent and beat a market expectation of 5.78 percent for May.

 

On a monthly basis, the CPI rose 1.4 percent from April, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

While interest rates are staying very low , everything to help

those who are in debt. maybe understandable as they are the

majority.....

Pryaut said he'd keep an eye on rising prices, I wonder when he'll do something about it instead of watchng.
