Sister in law in Bkk Sansiri house having the back converted into a kitchen, not a huge space, pic about half of the area. Builder delivered 125 concrete piles to bang in, seems a bit over the top to me, only a one story construction going up. I was wondering how much these piles are as we need some work done and one guy said they were 1000k baht each which I did not believe. 

 

Since you can bang 'em into the ground, 1k sounds about right.  

Overkill would be an under statement.  Hope she got permission from next door.

Generally, most anything you do not want sinking away from the existing structure will need piles or footings. Piles are cheaper and easier.

 

Do you think the B1,000 is too much or too little? Does the price include driving them?

Don't think these cost that much 240 for the whole job including the kitchen

considering the recommended depth for piling is between 18 and 23 meters around Bangkok I would imagine they are going to connect them together, though looking at pictures not sure how.

 

If 1000THB is for the installation also then it's a good price.

Well I guess it would depend on whether delivery and installation is included. The first one would be pretty pricey.

You were right, they use small 1.5 meter ones due to the constricted access and join them one on top of another connecting the re bar somehow with a bit of welding. Watched them bang 4 in so thats 12 meters so far.

Not too sure about overkill seeing how easily piles go into the ground in Bangkok, also depending on the driving method it can provide virtually no disturbance if you use human pile drivers, more likely entertainment value ????

Hang on. That would mean 125,000 THB for the foundations of a single story extension that seems less than 10 sqm.

They did 13 pieces for one pile altogether, home pile.com seem to know what they were doing, apart from reversing into out car leaving us without one for a week!

Not sure, over 100k at least Thais tend to be a bit secretive about the details, just boast about the total cost, 240k in this case

Was the fence wall (shown on the picture) also piled? And the house foundation?  If not, why to do it for a kitchen in such narrow area?
