The buds I see being advertised at the 'smoke cafes' certainly aren't the .2% version.

BUT ... outrageously priced also. 

 

Again, Thailand 'tourism Empire' seems to be just a continuation of their imaginary self.

Thailand being one of the last places, I would visit as a regular tourist, for any reason.

Buds are not extract. Ergo, the 0.2% does not apply to bud.

Ganga will be no different.  Just another silly thing for the TAT to advertise to entice as many as possible to visit TH.   It's their job, and apparently, they are pretty good at it.  Shy of 40 mill in 2019.

 

Nobody avoids the museums in Amsterdam (excellent BTW), because of the ladies behind the glass or the 'tea shops'.  

 

Many, most will walk by, out of curiosity maybe and think, "that's it, that's a tourist attraction, wow, some people are just plain stupid, who would bother".

 

Sort of fits with my opinion of 90% of the 'tourist attractions' in Thailand; overprice Nat. Park, or another Wat.  Only reason to go near either, is there may be some good food vendors about.

Well, the "tourists that they have been wanting to attract" are people from India. So far I've seen more single Indian male travelers than Indian families. I don't agree that "weed tourists" are their polar opposite, nor that "weed tourists" would spend less which is of course what the tourism sector really needs. 

 

It's silly to project that everyone that enjoys alcohol is a derelict alcoholic. Likewise, weed smokers come from all walks of life, and not everyone that smokes weed is a lazy hippie ????

The weed tourism market is just a small fraction of the potential benefit.

 

Thailand's low cost of labor, land values, and lack of government taxation could set Thailand with one of the lowest cost of weed production in the world. Growing weed is no more labor intensive than growing rice, and export value would be thousands of dollars per kilo vs about a dollar for rice. The demand will grow as laws are eased globally. Add in the export of Marijuana infused foods, drinks, and oils and it'll start to add up to some real money ????

Back in 20 years ago, a tourist told me about a small village in the Northeast where they sold "Thai stick".  I was leaving the next day, so never got to go there.

 

Now, I'm too scared to even think about it.  Watched that movie about a guy who gets caught with drugs.  No parole for drug offenses, they said in the movie.

 

You get less time for murdering your wife in Thailand. ????

 

Besides, we get Purple Thai in a strain called "Flo" in America.  My #1 favorite.  Maui Wowie is #2.  #3 is Chocolate Thai, which used to be the original Thai stick.

Well that seems rather civilised. If you want to partake you can do so in an area with adequate signage warning those that do not wish to smoke or smell it.  But tell me did you notice friends in Cambodia smoking it from a Shisha ?

With respect, yes indeed once inside Cambodia, but try and cross legally through Immigration and Customs - a different story!! To be honest, I have no interest whatsoever in any drug, being a retired Forensic Expert who used to test for Cannabis leading to offenders being prosecuted. With colleagues, we took turns on the "Cannabis Rota"!
