hailand is expected to see over 7 million tourists visit the kingdom in the second half of this year, generating total revenue of around 1.27 trillion baht for the Thai economy

9.000.000 tourists of 9.000.000 going through a service on the airport, it is a big difference in words and money, transit flight is it also count as tourists?

" total of over 1,978,000 foreign visitors entering Thailand between January 1 to June 28, generating total revenue of around 114 billion baht.

Total arrivals should number around 9.32 million, generating revenue of around 1.27 trillion baht."

this revenue not to be believed - 3.5x jump in arrivals in the second part of year suppose to generate some 10x jump in revenue. That would mean that those tourists would spend 3x more than previously. Would they stay 3x longer? I don't think so. It's constant 10-20 days holidays.

I would think hotel prices will rise some 10-20% at the very end of year, at high season. But they are not rising now yet, until end of rainy season. That's when domestic tourism kicks in on a larger scale.

Past 2 yrs, they've missed the mark of every 'millions will be arriving' news blips.  This one fits right in with their overly optimistic projections.

Don't think anyone believes it, or the people they're trying to convince to visit, and to 'join the party'.

Normal folks are dealing with worldwide price gouging, and the HiSo, know there are better option than Thailand to visit.  Especially if been there, done that already, why would they return.

Yes have to agree that total of 9.3 million Tourists arriving in Thailand

Probably includes all arrivals  people who work live here business guys regularly flying in and out bumps the numbers up

But if it keeps the Thai Tourist  board Happy then why not ????

The figures are based on visa status of the arrivals, so no they don't include those on non-tourist visas.

June hotel bookings surpassed 1 million on May 12 contributed to the end of the compulsory RT-PCR testing on May 1. With the ThaiPass registration lifted from 1st July, the remaining 6 months should probably exceed 1 million each month. The 9.32 million for whole of this year does seem plausible. Still a far cry from 39.92 million pre-pandemic though.

Just in the last couple of days after reopening, I finally filled a vacant (2 years vacant) building that was just sitting there.    Another 6 months and it'll be time to get rid of those covid rent discounts.

Party time.   ????

Thai Department of Tourism and Immigration. It's collated based on the visa information they record in their system from your passport at port of entry.

I'd agree it's possible, the July figure will give a good indication with the abolition of the restrictions as you say.

It's stated constantly that the TAT numbers are arrivals but here you are stating as fact that it's not.

Please provide a link so we can know once and for all

If my math is right, that's about 136,000 baht per person

So a couple with 2 young children would be expected to spend 544,000 baht for their holiday (not counting foreign airfares)

Sounds about right ????

Here is a link to the detailed analysis by country by month from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

https://www.mots.go.th/news/category/656

Here is a link to the summary totals from a site reporting on all govt statistical/economic data

https://tradingeconomics.com/thailand/tourist-arrivals

As far as I am aware TAT has always been consistent in reporting the Ministry/Department of Tourism and Sports figures since that is the Ministry responsible for compiling and issuing the official data ( see above ).

The only confusion I have ever seen is when people mistake Airports Authority of Thailand figures as being purely international tourist arrivals, which is obviously not the case.

Funny how this economic site has a forecast of 10 million by the end of this quarter....are TAT with 9.3 million for the whole year being conservative ????
