I'm going to say something is wrong, sure.

But, what I don't get about civil war is who is who? In the past, there were boundaries, physical borders.

Something is wrong and you can look wherever you want: Climate, decline of values, wars - even real nuclear threats, Chinese threats upcoming in addition, Dictatorships increasing, pandemics (and might be increasing) ....

I am thinking hard if this is a too pessimistic view and I might ignore what has happened in the past, but somehow I have a gut feeling that this is not true. We seem indeed to slide more and more towards an (even more) dark age.

AFAIK the Republican Party has fought long and hard to exclude minority groups from exercising their voting rights. Their trust in the voting system is probably frayed as well.

Please tell me, how do you steal an election when you have 8 million more popular votes than Trump? Sounds to me it was the Republicans who were doing most of the rigging, and failing. The Republicans who have conceded the election was won fairly are labelled as RINO's, and get death threats for their honesty.

Hitler came to power with a minority vote, despite a concerted campaign of violence and intimidation against all non-Nazi parties. His supporters were all brainwashed into believing he was the savior of Germany.

History repeats itself, see where I am going with this?

Along the lines of :

Trump is the new Hitler and Americans may need to take up arms in the future to stop  Trump taking control on the world and to stop World War three happening ?

Fear of democracy. That's the only driver of this sentiment, otherwise they'd be content to vote and let the chips fall where they may.

Yeh right. Who was it that said, "He's not my President!" How many of YOU said that? You don't like it, then accept a president and vote him out, when the time comes. No, you would rather divide your country and it will never go back. The US is finished because of so much hate. It's unbelievable.

You're right, but he fell off the turnip truck over nationalism. Given his marching orders by the socialist party for being a warmonger.

He quit socialism as it was too soft for him. Hitler did the same.

Fascism is based on state control though.

This is what happens when your country hasn't been at war with anyone for a year.

The USA has (officially) dropped 1,178 bombs under Biden.

The USA is continuously at war.

As a non American, what I find scary is the US National debt. I thought our UK national  debt was big, but wow!

If the "everything bubble" bursts, it's not losing our shirts we should fear, it's the political and social turmoil that will inevitably follow which should terrify us.

I don't get it

Don't you? If you are in the American military, free dental and medical care. Education, housing, pensions. Even meals and clothing. All the features of socialism.

Australian governments alternate between socialist and conservative governments, peacefully. IME it's the conservative ones that have the most corruption, employ the dirtiest tricks, and do the most harm to ordinary people. As witness the latest screwup over household electricity costs, legacy of conservative government policy, or lack of it.

Who pays for that though ?

Where does the US$800 Billion per year to pay for the military come from ?

Is the money generated through Socialism ?

And allow yourself to be brainwashed by lying people like trump and allow yourself to be swayed by obvious illogical conspiracy theory gangs, and you don't object to people who try to operate outside of the law.

Not at all, fascism is normally fuelled by the rich. Fascism and Oligarchies go hand in hand. Think Russia, Putin draws all his support from his crony oligarchs. Trump was an oligarch and largely chose rich people people in his cabinet. China is no different. China is decidedly not a socialist country. It is in effect fascist with a president for life who is supported by the rich.

The current population of the US is about 350 Mio people. What is a complete mystery to me is why one single intelligent compassionate strong ingenious leader to be the president cannot be found. I guess there must be at least hundreds that are well qualified and never get the chance because they are not part of the system that allows election. Or they are maybe too clever to be interested in the job.

The American military taking care of it's own doesn't make it socialist. What an absurd notion. There has never been and probably never will be a socialist government in the USA. Socialism is a political doctrine.

And what has the Australian government got to do with all this?

My point about the Australian government is to illustrate there are plenty of democracies in the world that have socialist governments from time to time, without getting their knickers in a twist about the term as Americans do.

I've listed the facts regarding the American military. I can't help it if you have pre-conceived ideas on what socialism is.

State based control. The leaders of communist countries are rich too. All forms of leaders are.

Never really seen a poor leader.

How about Gandhi? And there are plenty of ‘leaders’ who just earn their salary as president or prime minister, and nothing else. Usually that’s quite a good salary, they won’t starve to death, but I wouldn’t call those leaders rich.

since you mention sliding - everyone cheats - baserunners now wear sliding mitts which just happen to be long so they can make it to the base just a fraction of a second sooner...
