BANGKOK (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha sent his condolences to victims of the pub fire in Chon Buri province and ordered administrative officials and police to check the safety of entertainment places nationwide, impose preventative measures, find culprits and help victims and their families.

Deadly Chonburi pub found to be illegally modified, operated after allowed hours

The damaged Mountain B pub in Sattahip district of Thailand’s eastern province of Chon Buri, where 14 people were killed and dozens of others injured in a fire last night, has been found to have been modified illegally and had operated beyond the permissible hours, according to Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj-Gen Attasit Kitjaharn.

AFTER a huge fire engulfed a pub in Sattahip district of Chonburi province at 1 a.m. yesterday morning (August 5) killing 14 people and injuring many others the district chief was immediately transferred to the Department of Provincial Administration, Naewna newspaper and Sanook.com said.

Pattaya — Several surviving victims of the Mountain B club fire said that the sound-absorbing foam panels in the ceiling caught fire, melted, and fell on the pubgoers below, killing 14 people who could not escape through a sole exit at the front of the pub.
