A Kuwaiti motorbike racer driving in a group of four other foreigners crashed into a stationary pickup truck in Pattaya and suffered several injuries. Nobody, however, reportedly cooperated with the police, so all five bikes were impounded.

The accident occurred in the early morning of August 18th on Jomtien Beach Road at the entry of Soi 9 in Banglamung. Sawang Boriboon rescue services assisted one Kuwaiti racer who crashed his rented Honda PCX bike into a stationary Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck on the side of the road and hurt himself.

According to reports, the Kuwaiti man suffered a serious head injury and scrapes and did not provide his name to the police who arrived later and tried to initially refuse medical treatment. His four foreign friends who were with him only shouted incomprehensibly at rescue workers, police, and reporters, and refused to tell officers which bike they rode, so the Pattaya police officers decided to impound all five bikes.

All rented no doubt, so the fella who rented to this crowd will have his work cut out getting his bikes back, with the renters losing their deposits, plus some most likely. Stupid people to argue

Why didn't they "impound " the rider as well.

What are the consequences of a hired motorcycle getting impounded .

Will the person who hired it be liable for every day it is locked up ?

I hope the shop has some sort of guarantee , though I doubt it .

Hope the pick up owner gets compensated , doubt that either.

Stupid people to argue with medical assistance and all lose their wheels for being uncooperative. Early hours, probably all inebriated. No sympathy here.

Trash tourists are returning while the expected high rollers aren't yet getting the same headline levels.

TAT will update us soon though on this discrepancy, so don't worry.

Notice  how the report was too frightened to even  use the term ARAB to describe the people involved but called them 'foreigners'.

..that's how powerful Arabs  are in Pattaya

None specifically to the renter. The owner will have to go to the station to claim his bike back and I expect the police will confirm he has necessary paperwork to rent out bikes. If the bike is damaged, he would usually pursue the renter to claim it's full value as there is likely only liability insurance. If he does not have his passport, then he has little ability to do this... perhaps if he has details he could work with immigration to get him held at the airport when leaving, but this I hear is not easily done.

Ignorant bunch of arabs by the sound of it.

1. let the hurt guy rot in prison until he does give his name - overstayer ?

2. Can't blame him on the medical thing - he's about to get fleeced and probably no insurance

3. Chuck his mates in the clink too for a week for being uncooperative with law enforcement

Kuwaits; come on now, they ARE high rollers, everyone of them is guaranteed RICH.

"They thought this is a desert They thought this is a desert ????"

Well, I've been to Soi 9 & Beach Rd in Jomtien; in all fairness, it is at least a desert lookalike in many ways.

Maybe they dont have motor bikes and cars where they come from. ????

I guess the Kuwaites were slower and easier to catch than the Thai boy racers.

Maybe in Kuwait, these guys would get a lot worse treatment than in Thailand, so they

came to Thailand to fool around, in more ways than one.

Lets hope the trauma is so great this twit never returns.

he had to be different he managed to catch a stationary pickup, or maybe he thought the pick-up was in Colorado and he didn't need to avoid it

Deportations going to stop them from repeat offences.

No camels?

A bit faster than a camel eh?

Sounds by their actions they got what they deserved!

Could these people be part of the high end Arab Market that LoS has been keen to attract?

How many were apprehended,  or blood tested for amphetamines?

These guys will get off even if the kill someone

Do we really need all those anti-Arab comments here?

Are guys from all the other countries of this world so much better?

There will always be some idiots from any country.

I think these people just want to let loose in Thailand. Back in their country they are expected to conform to the customs of their countries. Thai girls are much prettier than goats.

Agree with everything you say.

Normally any damage to the bikes will be the responsibility of the renter, also he will have to pay the rent on the bike until its returned.

Assuming that is the owner took a copy of their passports which is normal.

In the article it did mention that four men were taken in for questions at the police station.

"The four friends of the injured man were detained and taken to a local police station for further questioning, but as of press time were continuing to be uncooperative."
