Respect for anyone who finds love no matter where.

I'm too fragile to consider a bargirl.

1. I would prefer to be the best lover my wife had ever had. Unlikely if she has had more than 3 previous bfs.

2. I would hate to meet a guy who had banged my Mrs. Imagine being with the wife and kid and then she runs into the last john.

Not too many posters want to admit they married a bargirl.    Everyone marries a university graduate who owns a shop.

What if you decided to live in Thailand?

If she worked as a sex worker there is a very god chance that you'd bump into some of her old clients, especially in Pattaya.

Who cares, are you so fragile that your wife has slept with someone else, that says it all.

So what? I might date an accountant back home and run into a former boyfriend in a restaurant. Big deal.

If I were in love, and she loved me back, I really couldn't care if I went to a football match and every single person in the stadium was a former barfiner. None of that affects what she and I feel for each other. Plus, I'm likely much better in the sack that anyone she ever met (what I really mean is that my ego isn't affected by what pleasure another man might have given her).

Single guy here.

Can't think of a reason to marry a Thai lady.

Half the weight of the western alternative ?

Ive been screwed over more by women in Thailand whom weren't technically a bar girl than by actual bar girls.

The thing is with bar girls is they have pretty much zero education and are very unaware of the big world wide, you can tell them anything and they will believe it. Not such an easy life dating a normal Thai women.

In terms of marriage best leave them all alone, marriage is an outdated and pointless task to go through and offers no benefits for the man. Other than that you can tell people that you are now married.

Thats why people can’t be bothered with these threads.

None of my friends have married ex-bar girls.... they have married well educated women from similar and financially independent socio-economic backgrounds....

But... such comments are unpopular on these forums as the mongers want their choices normalised, to do so they attempt to throw ridicule at those who have not had such limited options and make sarcastic comments as if accusing those who are in more ’normal relationships’ of lying.....  (as above)... so why would anyone with a well educated wife from a decent background even bother exposing themselves to the potential debate with a monger ???

Wow - quite a few generic misconceptions there in my opinion. Why would it not be 'normal' to choose a bargirl as your partner ? Does a degree preclude women from having affairs, turn to become escorts (posh bar girls) or use their looks to gain an advantage ? They're everywhere.

So a bar girl by default is not intelligent ? I know several who are, one of whom bought a bar, now has several bars and restaurants, went onto to buy 12 rai of land and built high end houses. She's now on her 9th project. Another one has found a husband and I've never seen a more devoted couple. Absolutely perfect together for years now. Now compare that to your 'well educated' girls who need a degree to work in a mobile phone shop for 500 baht a day and they are there in the hundreds, dead behind the eyes with zero ambition and it does make you wonder who is the smarter. A degree is frequently not worth the paper it's written on, especially so in Thailand. 'Media studies' anyone ?

Expanding it a little further, Thailand hasn't got a single university in the top 500 in the world last time I looked, so just how 'well educated' are these well educated thai girls ?

Finally there was a report in the UK which exposed hundreds of British university girls selling their bodies to make extra cash during their courses/degrees. So just think the next time you get treated by a British doctor she could well have earnt  a few quid on her back to get there. (Harold Shipman one of UK's most prolific murderers, highly intelligent doctor, should he be looked up to?) and I've worked with graduates who were a walking disaster that I wouldn't put in charge of my shoelaces.

Personally I've never had time for people who look down their nose at people who either choose or are forced down the path they are treading. Most, but certainly not all, bargirls will be doing their job out of a fierce loyalty towards their family, loyalty you will rarely find in the west, and if they don't the family will go under. I admire that hugely. Everyone's human at the end of the day, everyone has their reasons for their choices and will do what's best for them, it's no-one elses business.

Not married yet, but considering the option, so I voted anyways.

On the poll question: nope, my SO is someone from a conservative Muslim environment in Yala Province. She hates nightlife, doesn't drink or party, and is like the least likely person to ever set foot in a bar.

So the thing about the wife having been a bar girl, is that she offered sex for money? And this can be circumvented by marrying someone with a degree? Strange.

Many students need extra money, so they work sideline from time to time. I've met several of them. Should they be categorised as "bar girls" here too, because it's the "sex-for-money" aspect that's important?

In my opinion the lowest of the low are people who look down on sex workers. Pathetic hypocrites the lot of them.

Sure! Or it might just be that it´s a ridiculous poll. Sometimes members here are just too nosey, as well as getting down to such low levels to amuse themselves. It´s really sad, that so many have such boring life.

And the way the question is phrased, unless they met in a bar at some point (or the wife was extremely young), how would the husband actually know what his wife did before?

What did you expect? Jeez.

Bar girls are mostly young, not so attractive women from rural areas that are forced into prostitution by economic difficulties. Many older farang buy their wares.

University students who sell their bodies are usually attractive and Thai men buy their wares.

Bar girls feel superior to farang, who are clueless about the hierarchical social structure, but are the lower rungs of Thai society.

By some farang who knew her before he came here and married her. When a new guy enters the village in the past the one thing she doesn't want is for her new husband to is get to know me a farang who know too much. An expression the Thai women use is 'Farang Roo Mak Mie Dee'. Excuse spelling. And they will do their utmost to make sure you don't educate her new husband. Usual thing is if you go for a beer with him she will sit as close to yous as possible to put you off. Also she will spread discrediting rumours about you, putting off any friendship you intend to have with her husband.

I met a guy some years ago who introduced himself to me and after telling him my name he suddenly belted out ' Oh, so you're the chicken killer?' <deleted>

I lived 10 k's from this guy but tales got around that I killed other peoples chickens. FKW as I'd only been living here a short time. I put it down to his wife not wanting him to know things about her that I may divulge. So she created an atmosphere. Most do it.

Well that's some serious generalizations ! What about beauty in the eye of...... never mind.  And why are corrupt hi-so Thais superior to rural Isaan women?

As for superiority and hierarchical social structure, anyone who feels superior to another simply by birth is, in my opinion, inferior by choice.

I was born in a Western nation. Should I feel superior to all Thai people because not a single invention, discovery, or addition to the body of human knowledge has ever come out of Thailand, despite it always being in the top 25-30 of population size in the world?

Or maybe I can't feel superior because I'm not Newton or Faraday or Maxwell or Kilby or Poincaire or Feynman. so no better nor worse than anyone anywhere?

Maybe, just maybe, we would be wise to judge people by their character and kindness, not birth circumstances over which they had no control?

There's something weird about this phrase:

"...forced into prostitution by economic difficulties"

I still need my paycheck to get by. I'm forced into work "by economic difficulties" too.

It' only matters that they no longer have any.  Just like dating world.

I appreciate a lot of the flip side of the table you bring to the convo too.

I had a hard time with this being congruent with you argument though:

"but in reality they do NOT like farang men apart from that they are so naive that they believe this BS"

Most of your argument has them as victims.  Here, you are openly admitting that they are often the predator.

Which is it?

My opinion is I don't care what someone has done in past if we connect. I am no saint.

I actually don't go to bars or play in the pay 4 play either.  But I have dated ex girls of such trade.    Wiping out what they 've done in past is really nothing to me.  That's more of an insecurity of the man if he can't give a blank slate to write a new story from with a possible great woman.

The HARD part is if you stay in that same area isn't old dates, it's their pack of old friends whose mindsets are typically gold digging warped.  They say you are most like the 5 people you hang around most, right?  That bad advice from jealous  just seeps into their thought process, going from happy to "not enough." Even though they have 100x more than the girls giving the advice.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents.  probabaly worth less that that after pandemic inflation.

Wondering where all these freelancers, Vip nightclub girls, escorts, and uni students at shopping malls ending up?

They learned to frequently attract westerns and my best guess, there is more of them than bar girls who ended up married to a foreigner? These days, more girls working from their phones as well, but a bar girl is easier to measure I guess.

Most bar girls who spoke fluent english, only worked 3 months,,,,,,,, as standard, and those who had their first day, did not speak english at all

They are just doing a job. There are some who like farang but IMHO, it's pretty low. I guess they do like the farang who wai them and stuff like that, and basically treating them as equals, which not many Thais will do. Generally, Thais don't like farang, which I fid out the longer i live here. They tolerate us mostly, especially when we can't play connect 4.

Yeah, it´s amazing how low some people will go. And when they get the replies they deserve, they are offended. Wonder how it would be to have some respect for their wives, disregarding what they were when they met them. But, i guess that is an alien concept to far too many members here. Anyway, thanks for your post!

Yes, but you have the difference in that you are qualified for certain jobs, and the rural girl many times only have up to high school if lucky.

That's odd, I could have sworn you claimed to be Thai just a few posts back, even adding "trust me"...

Trust me, I am Thai and worked in a treatment centre for alcohol and drug abuse in Isarn, I've heard it all from 'bar girls', a term used by mongers to justify their mongering.

I am Scottish/Thai.

I know a bargirl who wants to marry me. She is very possessive and jealous of other ladies.

Only one flaw in her plan: she has a Thai husband.
