The police superintendent of Muang district police, in Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai, Pol Colonel Kittipong Sukwattanapun, has been transferred to an “inactive” post in the operations centre of the provincial police headquarters as punishment for his alleged failure to control the operations of a pub in the district.

Officials from the Provincial Administration and Juvenile Observation and Protection departments raided the Par Club on Friday night and found 325 people who were underage inside, some of whom were as young as 16.

The venue allegedly had been operating up to 4am, instead of 2am as required by law.

16-18 years olds making merry in town? OMG. At that age they should be at home watching gore movies on TV.

Yes, but most of us at that age back home either got our parents to come get us or found another safe route home. Here those drunk 16-18 year olds are on the roads drunk as a skunk at 4-5 am with no helmet and swerving in and out of the white lines

Just means being removed from the monthly shareout for a pre-determined spell of time.  Wife has Cops in her Family and they all just laugh at this 'Punishment'.

Did they check the cop’s bank account by any chance?

At least they didn't take the business away from him.

Officials have proposed that the provincial governor close the pub for five years.

Which will leave a gap in the market - I wonder which shade will move to fill it, brown, khaki or green?
