Hi I trying to find out if I can apply to renew my sons passport from the UK,

I live in the UK my sons first passport expires next year. He lives in Thailand with my wife, First passport was issued in Bangkok, so can anyone tell me if I have to renew his passport when next visit Thailand or can I renew it from UK. Have look on the government website but can't find any thing to answer my question.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

Assuming it's an application for a Child passport renewal, then yes you can do it,

Bear in mind that you will need to submit/surrender the child's previous passport and recent photos, of course.

To clarify it is for a child my son is 6

And it's a British passport

I don't see why you can't do it from the UK.  Obviously, you'll need to have his old passport and recent, counter-signed photos of him.  There's no requirement for the child to be present.   Doing it from Thailand might be easier though.

Yes, you can renew it in the UK, you can even do it online, confirming his current address in the UK.

You will need to forward his current passport to the UKPO, remember you should send it from the UK, if you’re currently in possession of it, no problem,  but it’s not supposed to be posted internationally.

If he holds a Thai Passport, that must also be forwarded to HMPO.

Somebody who has known him personally for at least two years will need to confirm his identity as a friend, neighbour or colleague, they must be qualified to do so and they will be personally contacted by HMPO to confirm their statement.

I personally agree that it may be safer for him to apply from Thailand, even if long winded and more expensive.
