I have had a work permit working as a teacher in Thailand for the past 6 years. Does the labour department in Thailand stop issuing work permits to foreigners after a certain age? i.e 55 or 60 years old?

I was informed by the labor department at 58 that there was no upper limit, however the private school I was at did not issue a further yearly contract after I reached 60. This was general practice as 2 Thai teachers were also finished at the same time.

Is there anyone 60+ working in government schools? Their Thai staff retire at 60. In private schools they can employ anyone at any are that can carry out their duties? I have known teachers in the past in their 70's who were teaching in my private school. So you can definiitley get a work permit at 60+, but it may be up to the employer and their regulations.

Correct.

The Thailand Labor Dept has no such age criteria for issuing WPs.

well, of course there is a age limit which is around 58 and up. But if your work place writes a letter saying they need you and you are a good teacher blah blah, they let it go.

The Labor department doesn't have an age limit. Government or schools might have.
