step counters... and water

Featured Replies

So, if you are in a pool shoulder deep, with the waters resistance - how many steps in water would equal land steps...

I could only find a listing based on time in water... 5200 steps per 30 minutes...

Don't forget that water offers not only resistance but buoyancy too. It may take more work to push your legs through the water but they are supporting significant;y less weight.

Try holding a 10kg weight above head as you walk. Great exercise. Army drill. Do as many laps as you can. Rest 60 secs, repeat 4 times.

Butterfly is the hardest stroke. Harder than walking if not adding weight. Do butterfly then the 10kg drill.

This may be of some help to give you an indication

Convert your exercise minutes into steps! Simply multiply the number of minutes you participated in an activity by the number of steps indicated in the chart.

Yo dude.. this is not boot camp... I am not trying to beat myself in shape in time for Rugby season...

Simple question... is one step in the pool equal to 3 steps on land 5 steps? or more?

Texas A&M Research Laboratory has revealed that walking in water burns more calories than walking on dry land and thus, results in a greater increase in weight loss compared to when walking on dry land.28 Apr 2017

Better off not drinking much. 2 beers a week is enough.

Not everybody can do the butterfly. Plus, for those of us with too much belly fat, it's almost impossible unless you've been doing it for a long time. (That's my experience).

Lumbago prevents me from swimming too much as I can’t put my head underwater. ( eye allergies). But I do what I can and then exercises holding on the side wall which seem to do me a lot of good.  I love aqua gym but hard to find in a group so do it myself. I often get someone joining me. Think I’ll try walking in water.

I do all sorts of maneuvers, long steps, left, right, jumps, little splits... swim a little - never put my head under water.. not sure why anyone would, can't breathe under there.
