None of the dogs I had in Thailand ever bit me and over the years I must have had a dozen. NONE were pit bulls. None of the cats bit me either. So, NO it doesn't apply to any animal. You and all the other pit bull owners here can defend your dogs for as long as you like, but you cannot change reality. They ARE a dangerous breed.

The gf lives at our farm alone while I am away working in BKK during the week and locals know that. Let's just say some of the males in the village are less than desirable. The knowledge that there is a PitBull sleeping in the house is a great deterrent for some drunk, horny scumbag at 2am. 2. Should these males drink too much Lao Khao and decide to actually try and break in, the PitBull is an extremely loyal, strong and brave dog and would protect her with everything he has. So, the purpose why you own it is violence. Just like some posters mentioned, they are called Tyson, Nazi, etc. How do you call it? In that time it has never chased a motorbike, chased a running child, never barks at people, never bit anyone etc etc. Yeah, yeah, yeah....we have heard that. My father had a very cute and lovely Leonberger for us kids. It would bite every human being it could get hold of (and killed our cat), including us kids So every time, dad paid the victim like 50 dollars and we were instructed to tell everybody the dog would never bite anyone. I have never, ever heard from a dog owner that his dog has ever bitten anyone. Makes me wonder, where all those dog bites come from. 1

cdemundo
Lots of big dog owners where I live. They are usually command trained for basic things. The problem seems to be that in situations where the dog becomes aggressive it is a new experience that neither dog nor owner is prepared for, and the owner can't control the dog. The owners then blame others for getting their dog excited. With respect to dogs of all breeds: I used to work for a furnace oil delivery company. Drivers were bitten by dogs fairly frequently. Often owners would say something like "We have had Fido for 12 years and he has never bitten anyone." I believe they were being absolutely truthful. As others have said the dog never bites, until he does. Edited September 27, 2022 by cdemundo
cdemundo
Labradors, Golden Retrievers, and little French Bulldogs appear in the lists of of dogs least likely to bite. Boxers appear in both the lists of dogs most likely to bite and least likely to bite, go figure. There are list published by law firms online but they are probably most concerned with bites that lead to lawsuits. Chihuahuas.bite frequently but probably don't do much damage. You can see videos online of cops and military training their dogs. They create situations where the dog is excited and aggressive and train the dogs to obey under those circumstances. I'm guessing that very few pet owners do that kind of training. So their dog is essentially untrained when that kind of situation arises.
