Hopefully our Real Solar is underway soon, so I am hoping yes maybe even lower.

But that said, I am now sincerely doubting if we not 1 go should go for Hybrid + small ESS, but the limiting factor is SWMBO :whistling:

  • We "weened" PEA on to lower meter readings over some time (actually by gradually installing more solar). Whether I really needed to I don't know, but a sudden reduction in usage could raise eyebrows.

  • It doesn't go anywhere it just never gets generated, if anything the energy just goes into warming up the panels as it would if they were just the roof.

  • One more bill to go, and PEA's calculator tell me ฿58   Then the wait to see how many months of -0- units used, it takes for them to replace the meter ... ????

Yesterday (15/11/22) was meter reading day, and we were presented with a massive bill for 57 units amounting to 239.86 THB, which equates to 4.2 THB per Unit.  This is the lowest that we've had since installing our small scale system some 13 months ago.  The system appears to be performing well given the fluctuation in weather conditions during the past month, as shown in the graphs below.

We used 106 units amounting to 410.51 THB but we paid less per Unit then you, 3,87 THB per unit.

So low usage have HIGHER THB per unit prices because of the added charge of  the VAT / Ft Charge / Service Charge .

For example Sept - Oct, 155 units price 587.71 THB price per unit 3.79 THB

@MJCMare low users still getting the FT rebate, I can't remember if it was for 2 or 3 months?

This period is the last (Nov - Dec) where the discount is active.

Dec - Jan bill will see the massive increase in Ft.

Just to confirm....  The 4.2 THB per Unit figure which I quoted above is based upon the final charge that we have to pay the PEA and includes the total energy cost + monthly fee + Ft - Government discount + VAT.

If I just used the energy cost (185.15 THB) for the 57 Units, then the unit cost would equate to 3.25 THB per Unit.

I note from previous bills which have been higher, the energy cost per Unit has been higher e.g. 884.12 THB / 244 Units = 3.62 THB per Unit.

FYI ..... I have attached below a copy of the 15/11/22 bill.

What is the Ft = 0.9343 THB/Unit  ???????

The price I wrote down is the TOTAL (inclu everything) price and that price divided by the units used. Will post a scan of my latest bill later on then you will see (more usage but lower price per kWh then you). If I only used Energy charge (344.33 THB that would mean a price per unit (106 units used) of also 3,25 THB (same as you)

Ft= Fuel Surcharge, and as you can see you got a discount (because lower then 300 units used (sliding scale it is) Original Ft = 53,26 but discount of 52,46

Edit: Ft discount will stop after the Nov - Dec period and that it will be increased (AFAIK) massively to maybe over 2 THB per UNIT. (and no discounts, but nothing definite YET)

Here our latest bill

If using Energy charge only we come at 3,25 THB per unit.

(344.33 THB / 106 Units = 3.25 THB)

If using total price we came out at 3.88 THB per unit

(410.91 THB / 106 Units = 3.88 THB) (previously I wrote 3.87 but did not ROUND it up )

Yes, FT is per unit, times your 57 units.

Since less than 300 units, discount credited

as shown on your bill.

So your FT tax was all of ฿0.79

Read more about the Ft increase here

but you need to follow the link in that post

(This link has all the details)
https://www.thaipbsworld.com/service-fees-for-household-and-small-business-electricity-use-to-be-cut-jan-apr/

to read about it, because the AN post writes about the decrease in service charge but NOT about what is going to hurt and that is the massive increase in Ft (per UNIT) (which could be as much as 2 THB PER UNIT)

The new FT rates would have added quite a bit to our rental/PEA bill, as we averaged 600-700 units a month.  The normal without covid discounts was quite noticeable, and that before the FT increases proposed.

Also explains some of the hotel room rates I've been seeing lately, as considerably higher than before.  Doubt if they're getting discounts, and of course need to pass that along to the customers.

Double whammy to the tourist industry, as I read airfares are way up also.  Those having the funds, are probably getting some sticker shock when planning.

Next year's going to have a lot of crying about their PEA bills, when discounts are discontinued.

absolutely. I hope my full solar is running then so I can have a usage of around the 60 mark from PEA, but that will still be a 3-400 THB bill (if Ft increases that much)

PEA Figures for the period Nov - Dec are in

Units used: 87 (down 17,92% from last month)

@Crossy yes the Ft Discount is still there. (but this is the last time)

Ft Price: 81.28 THB but we got the Ft Discount of 80.07 THB

We achieved this with the help of 2 simple GTI's (connected to 6 panels in total)

We could have gone MUCH lower (60 @Encid ???? )  but SWMBO "ordered" the GTI's shutdown 8 (yes 8 ) days ago

Here a graph for our usage from the last 5 months.

This month have been fully on No Export

Generation/usage 352.kWhs

Import from MEA 75kWhs  cost 302.thb including 70thb rebate.

Total usage          427.15kWhrs

Previous months  usasge 82-166-246-390-387-448-325

Estimate charged our PHEV 6.2kWh battery 15-20 times. Each time saves about 50thb in gasoline... on the odd occassion have charged/partially charged the car battery from MEA.

Will be interesting to know how we manage on No Export when it gets hot. Our Daikin FTKM18WV2S air con units appear to be quite economical. Actually it's an SV in the bedroom.

The past month (16 Nov - 16 Dec) has been really naff so far as my small scale solar system  production was concerned.  The weather has been well below par with many days having lots of clouds.  Even when there were minimal clouds, it was very hazy.  I also noted that the sun is now much lower towards the Southern horizon most of the day which also hinders solar production.

Below is my production graphs for the billing period Nov -Dec. which clearly shows that I failed to meet mt target of producing 75% of our electrical needs ????.

2085167125_2022121602.jpg.46caeaa2d47ed3d18272fcdcb457280b.jpg

Note:  From the above graph it will be seen that on the 24th November the system only managed to produce about 1.5 units and I needed to purchase 5 Units from the PEA to meet our needs.  On that day we had very heavy clouds and it poured with rain for most of the day (lot of local flooding as a result).

@Crossy

I think I have figured out the NEW Ft Rate from Dec - April.

Instead of the Discount we got according (excl the Heavy Users (500 Units+) to this scale in the Periods Sept-Oct, Oct-Nov and Nov-Dec.

fttable.JPG.9572f5c1be8e026cd38032bf4c270184.JPG

Starting the billing period in December (till April so Dec-Jan, Jan-Feb,Feb-Mar and Mar-Apr) everyone will have to pay the 0,9343 THB per Unit (kWh) and NO discount available.

This would raise the avg Unit (kWh) price to 4.27 THB.

So our Dec bill of 87 units @ 344,60 THB would increase to 430.28 THB an increase of 85.68 THB or 25%.

Edit: Of course I only can confirm it when we get our First bill because everything is now as clear as mud. I will still search the PEA website because they put the changes up there

PEA Bill for the Months Dec-Jan just received

3 Changes to the previous months

1- Service charge reduced from 38.22 to 24,62 THB

2- Ft Charge increased to 0.9343 per unit.

3- We came under 60 units this month to be exact 58 units

Bill was < 300 THB

When we left home yesterday, for a few day golfing etc … we were on 51 units from MEA.

He will read our meter this morning so don’t expect it to have changed.

Running all the  month on no export. Only one light and Fridge/Freezer running last night … battery down to about 65%…We were away at Xmas and it’s been cool so that probably explains the low MEA reading 719A881B-0522-4F11-B29A-36A08920C91D.thumb.png.d9193493226b4b42ba5dc294ca799251.png

I'm shooting for 1 unit this month.  Last meter reading 121, today 121 and 20 days in.  Going to use 1 kW/unit, just for the hell of it, before the 28th.

Impressive.

We are only using 2 Simple Plugi GTI's (still) and they have brought our Electricity usage down from 262 units (before we installed them) to 58 units this month.

Which I think is very very good for the basic setup we use.

Edit: Why so slow in the first couple of months? SWMBO wasn't happy but now she is the one to put the machines on and even is pushing for the low 50's:whistling:

10 minutes ago our local PEA meter reader called and posted the bill in our letter box.  This month has hit an all time low (in terms of purchasing from the PEA) since I installed our small scale system 15 months ago.  We only needed to purchase just 47 units, which cost us a massive 236.68 THB, or 5.036 THB/unit.

Our small scale system produced 81% of our household needs (198 Units) this month which meant a saving of 997 THB off our electric bill ????.

I confirm from our current bill (as shown below), that as indicated by @MJCM in one of his earlier posts, the discount on the FT has been discontinued and we are now paying the full FT cost of 0.9434 THB/unit.  Obviously this has increased the overall unit cost from 4.2 THB/unit last month to 5.036 THB/unit this month ????.

You even broke that 9 kW ceiling ... 1 day ... ????

Our first month having, and being conservative, we average about 10 a day, when not exporting.

Slowly went up to 12-15-18, but can't seem to break an average or 20kW a day, and that's with the EV.  Guess I need to drive around more, though we are using the AC more of late, as temps hitting 30+ now in the afternoon.  I don't think we'll break 600 kW this month either.  Barely break 500 kW.

People really need to look into a system, any system.  If not overdoing it, ???? ROI is pretty quick.
