The Constitutional Court has ruled that Prayut Chan-o-cha can stay on as prime minister until his current term of office ends. However, the court determined that his premiership commenced in 2017 – the year the present Constitution was promulgated, meaning that if Prayut is re-elected as prime minister after the next general elections, he could serve for only two more years.

 

So what’s next for PM Prayut and the future of Thai politics? Find out in this special program where Assoc.Prof.Dr.Jade Donavanik from College of Asian Scholars analyses the issue.

Nope he will just re-write the rules again it's not like he hasn't done it before. Face it the Thai people have the government they deserve until they stand up and grow a pair, shan't hold my breath...

Sadly the very same degree of non-confrontationalism and acceptance which makes Thailand a very enjoyable place to be for many of us is exactly the same reason Thailands political system has always been the way it is and why this illegal authoritarian parliamentary dictatorship continues...

Is that complicated as if we need someone struggle for answers in  50-minute video talk ?         

 

Prayut is back in PM office on Oct, 1 2022 and continue the PM work in the next 7 months, including chairing APEC Thailand in November 2022.   

Come May 2023 Thailand Election and Bye Bye to Prayut.

Constitution says there's an 8 year limit to the premiership. Then the court goes, "Well, his premiership didn't really start until..."

1. Get his hair dyed, washed cut and trim. 

2. Meet with his Master to prepare him as to what to say and do. 

3. Meet with his financial advisor as to where to put all those brown envelope next 4 years.

The Constitution 2017 (unofficial translation) says:

 

Section 158. 
<snip> The Prime Minister shall not hold office for more than eight years in total, whether or not holding  consecutive term. <snip>
