PM orders preventive measures implemented at childcare centers; safety windows and doors to be installed

BANGKOK (NNT) - The tragedy in Nong Bua Lamphu has spurred discussions about incident prevention measures that could be employed at childcare centers and schools. The Ministry of Education is now aiming to install safety doors and windows at childcare centers nationwide.

 

Prime Minister’s Office deputy spokesperson Tipanan Sirichana said the education minister had ordered the installation of safety doors at public childcare centers and preschools. The execution will be carried out by the Office of the Vocational Education Commission.

 

The order was made in accordance with the prime minister’s policy to actively seek measures to prevent and monitor incidents at educational institutes.

 

Ms. Tipanan added SOS buttons will be installed so aid requests can be sent to the local police station. Vocational colleges in each province will coordinate with preschools in their area as well as with private venues to determine the local demand for the SOS system.

 

A vocational college will send its instructors and students to carry out the installation of the system at venues.

 

The deputy spokesperson revealed Nakhon Ratchasima Technical College will pilot the prototype system.

 

The aim is to integrate a full suite of safety windows and doors into the system, which will also contain alarms and cameras. The system will enable local police to be immediately informed of an incident. The prototype is expected to be released by next week.

 

The prime minister is also placing emphasis on training school personnel and students about incident survival methods. This is aimed at reducing incident casualties.

Band aid solution.

 

How about banning all guns and implementing a minimum 10-15 year sentence for anyone found in the possession of a gun, no excuses, harsh, no, a suggestion that I believe is somewhat more genuine that this blokes, oh and while were at it, make it 20-30 years for the person supplying the gun to the buyer.

Something happened and we have to do something or at least show those people that we plan to do something.

 

I didn't follow all the articles, but I wonder how much attention got the part that this police officer was supplied with drugs by another police officer. For anybody living long enough in Thailand that is obviously not surprising and just a sidenote. But should it be?

It is well known that many Thai police officers are part of the drug supply network in this country. Either actively or "just" by accepting bribes to look the other way. And that is obviously only one part of the Thai (police) corruption.

 

What should be fought is the corrupt police. Fire every corrupt officer! Thailand will never really prosper with corruption all over the system. That should be fought!

 

But then again, who will fight corruption as long as the Thai people vote again and again for the same known corrupt families? When will Thai people realize that if they want less crime then they shouldn't put criminals in charge. It shouldn't be too difficult to understand this obvious connection.

So let's turn day-care centers and schools into prisons.

 

Interesting to see various authorities awaken from their lethargy and leap into action. You never know what crazy schemses they'll come up with.

I know it is hard to change. But not impossible.

 

It would be a great start if voters wouldn't vote again and again for the same corrupt people. Voters know they are corrupt. And they still vote for them. And if the corrupt person is banned then many voters vote for their wife or sister or child. That's stupid! 

 

The first step to get rid of corrupt people is to not vote for them again and again.

Maybe with all those smart phones connected to the internet it would be a good idea if more Thai people should spend some time to learn about the rest of the world instead of playing with fb or games. Then they could learn that there are people out there who fought corruption and corrupt people.

Your notion about learning from the 'real world' I mean. Your suggestion that all they do is play games and do food porn on FB is a redundant trope same as gurning about Thaksin is. There's probably more than enough generational enlightenment to go around in all the places that matter (that's only Bangkok by the way) but it probably takes more than just motivation or someone willing to die to make any change.

 

Apart from their indolence and death not having the same cache as it has in the west, nobody's going to break a sweat or martyr themselves for change so suck it up. It is what it is (and what it will forever be).

It seems he received lots of that money officially because of some crazy rule when police officers do their job, they still get a huge incentive for some things. I don't remember the details, but it was something like that.

Sorry to upset you with the truth. 

I see often enough Thais who play with their phone and have minimum wage jobs. What is so difficult to understand about learning and getting better skills and making more money?

 

There are always excuses why people don't do what is good for them. But they are exactly that, excuses.
