Bo Rai police in Trat, eastern Thailand, were contacted by a member of the public after an accident on a hill on the Nonsri Road.

They found a white Toyota with its front severely damaged with a shattered windshield. The force of the impact had caused the steering wheel to come loose outside the vehicle.

Under the wheels of the Toyota was a motorcycle and another bike completely burned out was a distance away.

Dead in the bushes was one man, 30 meters away another.

They were later named as Thanawat, 24, and Khongrit, 25.

The driver of the pick-up would not give his name to reporters but the nickname of "Tai" was heard. He is a worker at a fruit factory, reported Thai Rath.

Police tested him and found him to be drunk.

Witnesses eating outside a house reported hearing a crash and loud explosion before seeing a fire.

The bodies were taken away for autopsy and the drunk detained.

I don't think the powers that be are taking DUI ,be that alcohol or drugs,

seriously enough, under the new points system you have to be caught

3 times DUI ,to accrue enough points to lose your driving license , any

one caught DUI should lose their license immediately, on been found

guilty and the vehicle crushed  ,and serve a prison term ,at the moment

there is nothing to really deter DUI.

Motorcycle alert.. RIP to the familes.

Very sad and another reason not to drive a motorbike in Thailand. It is a death wish.

Until sentences for drunk driving - throughout the entire world - are changed to something like 25 years no parole for killing someone when drunk, people will carry on regardless. These days a life is only worth about 4 years in court when killed by a drunk

Hmmm….:life sure is cheap on Thailand roads and you get the impression no one cares either.

Two counts of manslaughter.
