Zebra crossings - solution found in Iceland

Featured Replies

The Thai government is promoting the idea that zebra crossings should be respected.

In Iceland they paint on the road an illusion of "floating zebra crossing" and it seems to work : the drivers slow down ????

No... That solution that they’ve ‘found’ in Iceland is not a solution at all...  It’s just a novel way of painting a pedestrian crossing...

The solution is actually education, training and law enforcement of sufficient effectiveness that people simply stop when they should....

Not exactly a new idea, they tried that in Thailand back in 2019:

Indeed....  and this one from Nov 2017 (which is the same crossing as in the Op’s photo!)

As an optical illusion, I love it.

As a means to make people stop, well, it might (sic) work one time.

Meanwhile, get the police out of the Amazon coffee shops....

Looking at the dates, someone's got a diary reminder for Novemberish every 2 years. (Ignoring Covid).

Maybe work. But they have to see it.......half the time on the phone.
