Siam Rath reported that Pol Gen Surachate Hakpan - who they called Deputy Joke - was at the Muang Pattaya police station to announce developments in underage sex cases at the Cobra Beer Bar.

 

Mr Michael, a Brit and Mr Jens, a German, paid 2,000 baht for sex with 14 and 15 year olds.

 

The owner of the bar took 500 baht.

 

The pair were arrested after the crime on September 24th.

 

Also arrested was bar owner Ornthana, 43, after a search warrant was served at her address in Soi Chaiyapreuk 2. 

 

The names of ten underage girls were found on bills. 

 

She faces human trafficking charges.

 

Surachate was in town to wrap up the investigation that was of great public interest as well as being followed closely in the media.

Did they knowingly have sex with underage girls or were they told or lead to believe they were older? 

Very difficult to tell the difference in age for many Thai girls/ women, I've seem older women that look like teenagers with a couple of kids in toe. 

If you're going to purchase sex, go for the 30 year olds.  They are at the peak of their hormonal imperative to reproduce, they have experience, they know the game, and you're not going to mistake most 30 year olds with an under-aged teen.

By the way, human trafficking sucks.  Underage human traffickers should have their junk removed to thrown into a hole for the rest of their miserable lives.  Young teen-agers are vulnerable.  If you're a client - exercise extreme discretion.  Better to be over-cautious than under-cautious.  I don't have a lot of sympathy for guys getting caught bonking 14 year olds.

Yeah - signs of a tough life.  So stick with the 30 year olds and above.  It will save you a lot of problems.

First time that I have seen the bar name in relation to this, I thought originally they said a farang owned the bar?

See the picture in the first post, shows 'Mr Thacker' previously identified on this forum as Tacker - perhaps he's the legal owner of the bar but not facing charges?

 

This is the bar that was allegedly arranging / booking the children online and delivering them to the hotels, so the underage stuff wasn't occurring on bar premises.

 

Suggest the 'purchasers' knew exactly what they wanted.

I think officially the rules are that nobody below the age of 20 is allowed in bars.

Do the police check the age of people in bars and enforce these rules?

Because if they would do that then it would be impossible that a customer picks up an underaged girl in a bar.

Obviously some girls look young. But with others it is not obvious. If a girl works in a bar (and the customer has to pay bar fine) then IMHO the bar and bar owner and bar manager are mostly responsible for this.

Not to mention if you go for girls that young you should check id card. I mean to say the guys were mistaken is foolish. Anyone can see how young someone is and to mix up 14-15 and 18-20 is possible but its up to the guy to confirm. Send to trial.

From the original thread on this topic the girls as young as 12 years old were not present in the bar.

 

Arrangements were made with the Cobra bar owners online and the girl/s taken to the farang's hotel room.

No that would not be justice.

 

Justice would be putting her in a cell with staff and mothers that have teen age daughters,  

 

For any men same thing put them in with people that have daughters.

 

That is when justice gets done. 

 

I do wonder though about the price 2000 for a special girl seems rather low.

No. If they were told the girls were say 18 and had ID cards showing that then the guys didn't know?. The ID cards could be fake, but who knows?

30 yo also don't look like 20 or 25. That's why many of us are not interested.

 

So if they looked older that’s an excuse? Seems like trying to justify it with excuses. I’m sure the people interested knew the ages.  And I’m sure that is what they were looking and paying for

Most of the business is on the Thai side and not in the tourists areas. It's often advertised in Thai language on popular social media sites and for less than 2000. It's particularly heinous on the border towns (especially with trafficked non-Thais). It's an open secret. It's amazing what some people will tell you over lao khao at a ran ka or what you overhear when nobody thinks you understand.

No one is defending anyone who buys sex from underagge girls!

There is little condemnation of underage sex on this forum, ive noticed it from other threads too.

 

I guess living in Thailand you get immune to it, maybe i dont know (not talking personally)

 

To the poster that's is abhorred by a 50 year old male and a 23 year old women. Jeez thats extreme and happens in ever country in the world not always necessarily paid for.

Many, many years ago, possibly 20 or more years, I was down Walking Street with a bunch of mates, we went into a bar, we were drinking and having a good time amongst ourselves, I was sitting at the bar and one of the girls asked me if I would like the company of a very attractive but also obviously quite young lady, she was well under legal age for anything, I politely refused and we all finished our drinks & left, I have never been back to that place since, a shame as they used to play great rock music when all the other bars were playing techno cr*p or something similar.

 I’m assuming the comment about not attracted to 30 year olds and that I’m 50 plus is a generalization and not about me specifically since I’m neither. Though that would not be the same…. That’s Leonardo DiCaprio…

 

unfortunately, many of those that partake in the industry or profit from it are in positions that make it difficult to do anything.
