Caldera Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Didn't he infamously claim that Thailand was free of overstayers after his "successful" purge when he was immigration chief? Miraculously though, plenty of foreigners on multi-year overstays continued to be found even after he was replaced. I'm predicting he'll fail again. And again, he'll get promoted regardless, being qualified for the job really isn't a criterion. 1

Laphroaig27 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Seems primarily directed at the Chinese and RTP. Seems Chinese pushed their luck. I have it on good authority RTP searching for a number of Chinese individuals.

Popular Post BritScot Posted November 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 4, 2022 Its called history. One of the reasons we left Thailand was waking up to 6 police vehicles full of police: 3 on my drive and 3 infront of my house. All to check if I was living in my house (living there for 8 years) and not working..... Oh and they had the audacity to want a group photo with me. Felt like an arch criminal... wait I left my army uniform in the uk many years ago.... 3 1

Geordieabroad Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 How long has this stupid "bad guys out, good guys in" been thrown around now? Things won't change till it's "useless Thai cops out, decent cops in" 1

Can you be on overstay and then go to immigration and tell them you are a student?

It helps them also to fulfill their aspirations of sending their kids to private schools, buying fancy cars, keeping their wife/mia nois happy etc. etc. Why those aspirations should only be limited to Westerners?

While in 'my' country (France), we open Foreigners with welcome arms. "Bad guys included". My Thai Wife easily obtained a 10 years "visa". Got herself a card (Carte Vitale™) allowing her free medical treatment everywhere in France. Getting paid and lodged by the government in case of non-employment. And so much more... While Thailand is on the chase of the "bad overstayers" that didn't get their stupid stamp... The end of the first paragraph says it all - putting overstayers and criminal gangs in the same category:- "going after foreigners on overstay and criminal foreign gangs." And in the meantime, what is the latest on "Boss"? 1

Why not put their personal data with the photo on the Internet and pay for every reported information that leads to the capture of such people for instance 5000 Baht?! Why not??? They are just talking all the time... Think that could interfere with the business model of most of the immigration officers 1

Bangkok Barry Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Does anyone remember ever reading a report on this site that the authorities are cracking down on Thai criminal gangs? No, I thought not. 1
Foghorn Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Check everyone who use an agent , and then for every 10 that doesn’t actually qualify but an immigration officer granted visa , sack said immigration officer and disqualify the agent from working as a visa agent
